Ever heard an NBA referee testing their whistle pre-game? Before each game, all referees check in with the scorers table to make sure their whistles are properly synced to the precision timing devices on their belt packs which stops the game clock at the sound of the whistle.

“There’s more to a picture than meets the eye.”-NeilYoung Refereeing is more than just blowing a whistle and calling the obvious. Running a game requires thorough preparation by knowing the rules, clear communication through gestures and verbal cues, and moving with purpose to observe key plays. The BGO Performance Showcase allowed our team of junior cadets to watch up close how veterans reserve the game. Then follow up with post game questions from the crews. Adults interested in joining the officiating community, click the link in bio and set up your free clarity call today. Youth (11-19) interested in paid training can register for a spot using the BGO Junior Academy link. 🎥- @rodvisuals 🙏🏾👊🏾💪🏾 #refereelife #runthegame #sports #basketball #referee

It always amazes me how many footballers at every level, think that shouting or screaming at the Ref will make them change their mind! Do you change your mind if someone disagrees with you and screams and shouts at you? No. Nor do I Let’s hope we get some great matches up and down the country and let’s remember to respect the Ref Have a great Saturday everyone 👍🏽 #shaunwallace #thechase #chase #chasers #thechasers #itvthechase #itvx #quiz #quizshow #fitnessmotivation #fitness #fitnessaddict #fitnessjourney #fitnesslifestyle #fitnessgoals #gym #gymlife #outdoorgym #ref #refereeing #refereelife #referee⚽ #referee #football #saturday

Spot the difference. 🔎🏀⏱️ 🦓: study these subtleties to spot these violations in real time! Everyone needs to respect the Ref! Players, managers and fans alike Just because a decision doesn’t go your way, doesn’t mean it’s the wrong decision. Refs spend hours and hours learning the rules of the game and have to interpret them in real time, in the heat of a game, to make the game as fair as possible. Do you know all the rules of the game…I doubt it! Unless your a qualified ref Let’s start giving refs the respect they actually deserve #shaunwallace #thechase #chase #chasers #thechasers #itvthechase #itvx #quiz #quizshow #ref #referees #refereelife #refereeing #referee

👩‍⚖️👨‍⚖️ Ein intensives Wochenende für unsere Schiedsrichter:innen beim Zentralkurs!
Ganz im Zeichen von Weiterentwicklung, Teamwork und Spielverständnis. 📺 VAR-Training & Analyse vergangener Spielszenen
 🧠 Theorieworkshops zur Spielleitung
📚 Einführung der neuen Regeln für die Saison 2025/26:
🧤 Torhüter-Regel: Ballbesitz länger als 8 Sekunden = Regelverstoss ⚽️ „Double Touch“ bei Penaltys   – Unabsichtlich: Tor zählt nicht ➝ Wiederholung   – Absichtlich: Indirekter Freistoss 🫱 Captain–Referee Cooperation: Mehr Klarheit, mehr Fairness Bereit für die neue Saison – mit Fokus, Wissen und Leidenschaft! 💪⚽

Walking into the weekend like… Welcome to my world as a Boy Mom, in the middle of football season, on my husband’s first away game weekend! Wonder how many of these squabbles imma have to break up. Let me go grab my strip shirt and whistle because I’ll definitely be playing referee this weekend! These kids love each other, but one thing they doing for sure is wrestling one another! And we let them! This my life, what’s yours like? . . . . . . #boymom #momlifebelike #momlifestyle #coachwife #3under4 #refereelife #viralreels #fight #brothers #brothersforlife❤️ #football #wags #bcw #footballseason #awaygames

Most people commute across town for games. I crossed a continent to ref hockey games. ✈️🏒 The gear was packed the night before. Then came the 4:00 AM start, a 6:30 AM flight out of Edmonton, and a 4:30 PM arrival in Orlando. I made it to Davenport by 7:45 PM—but the commute wasn’t finished. It was another 45-minute drive to Maitland, dressed and ready by 9:00, followed by Game 1 at 9:30 and Game 2 at 11:00. By 12:45 AM, I was finally driving home. Was I tired? Absolutely. Would I do it again? Without hesitation. More than 30 years into officiating, I still love walking into a rink, putting on that jersey and stepping onto the ice. When you truly love the game, sometimes the journey is just part of the assignment. How far have you travelled to ref a hockey game—or how far would you go for the game you love? 👇 #HockeyRefDave #RefereeLife #HockeyOfficials #LoveTheGame #hockeylife
