🔬 1️⃣ Brix Refractometer kya hota hai? 👉 Ye ek optical instrument hai jo liquid ke refractive index ko measure karta hai. Aur us refractive index se % Brix nikalta hai — % Brix = solution me sugar (sucrose) ka percentage Example: Agar mango juice me reading 18° Brix hai → matlab usme 18% sugar hai. ⚙️ 2️⃣ Refractometer ke types: Handheld analog refractometer (common aur cheap) Digital refractometer (accurate, display me reading aati hai). 🍹 3️⃣ Use karne ka tarika (step-by-step): Step 1️⃣ — Clean the prism Soft cloth se refractometer ka glass prism (front surface) saaf karo. Step 2️⃣ — Calibration 1–2 drop distilled water dal kar lid band karo. Scale ko 0° Brix par adjust karo (agar analog hai). Digital me “zero” button dabao. Step 3️⃣ — Sample lagao Fruit juice, sugar solution, ya sap ka 1–2 drop prism par daalo. Cover plate band karo taki light evenly pass ho. Step 4️⃣ — Reading lo Refractometer ko light ke samne rakho aur eyepiece me dekho. Jahan light aur dark ka border aata hai, wahi reading °Brix me hoti hai. (Digital wale me direct display ho jata hai.) Step 5️⃣ — Prism saaf karo Har reading ke baad prism ko soft tissue se clean karo. 📈 4️⃣ Application (use): ✅ Fruits ka maturity test (mango, grapes, banana, tomato etc.) ✅ Sugarcane juice sugar content check ✅ Honey, soft drinks, wine, dairy industry me quality control ✅ Hydroponics / fertilizer solution concentration test ⚠️ 5️⃣ Tips & precautions: Calibration hamesha room temperature pe karo (20–25°C). Auto Refractometer.. An Autorefractometer (also called Auto Refractor) is a computerized machine used in eye clinics to measure the refractive error of the eyes automatically — that is, it estimates whether a person needs spectacles for myopia (minus power), hypermetropia (plus power), or astigmatism (cylinder power). --- 🔹 How it works 1. The patient sits and looks into the machine at an image (usually a hot-air balloon or farmhouse). 2. Infrared light enters the eye, reflects from the retina, and returns to the sensor inside the machine. 3. Based on the reflection pattern, the device calculates: Spherical power (SPH) Cylindrical power (CYL) Axis of astigmatism Pupil size Corneal curvature (in some models) The results appear instantly on the screen/printout and are used by optometrists/refractionists for further refinement during subjective refraction. --- 🔹 Advantages ✔ Fast and easy ✔ Useful for children and non-communicative patients ✔ Reduces refraction time ✔ Good baseline measurement before subjective refraction --- 🔹 Limitations ✖ It is not a replacement for subjective refraction ✖ Results may be inaccurate in: Patients with accommodation (especially young kids) Cataract Tear film disturbance / dryness Post-surgery corneas --- 🔹 Final Point Autorefractometer provides a starting prescription, but the final glasses power should be given after subjective refraction for best visual clarity.
