Mind you, I didn’t even know thesis by publication existed before being in the degree 🤯 fun fact - if you’re doing the standard ‘monograph’, you can request consideration to change to ‘by publication’ before your confirmation of candidature seminar, if it’s something you’re wanting! I really like the way you focus on one project/research paper at a time and write it up, get it peer reviewed and then make corrections to ensure it’s robust BEFORE you move onto the next project. I think it’s helped me understand more of what I need to include in my writing or just general things to think about that a peer reviewer might critique or have feedback on. Another benefit of being able to do it this way, and getting to the final thesis stage is that you know your work is strong. The examiners won’t be able to comment too much on your research if it’s already been peer reviewed and published 🙌 Sooo fingers crossed I can put together this thesis pretty quickly and hope for only minor corrections 🙈 #thesisbypublication #thesis #doctoral #phdstudent #college
You don’t need to put a citation after every sentence in your research paper. Think about how you’re building the paragraph. The goal isn’t to fill every sentence with citations, but to make it clear which ideas come from your sources and which are your own analysis. Your explanation and synthesis are part of academic writing too. For each paragraph, think: Introduce the idea → cite the research that supports it → explain what it means in your own words. Save this for your next research paper. #studyproblems #academicwritinghelp #literaturereview #researchtips #studentsupport
Comment REVIEW and I’ll send you my Review Paper Writing Template 📚 Staring at a blank screen while writing your first research paper? You are not alone. Most students think research paper writing is only for experts, but the biggest mistake is waiting for everything to be perfect before starting. A research paper becomes easier when you break it into sections: ✅ Methodology first ✅ Results with only findings ✅ Discussion with meaning + connection to literature ✅ Introduction after understanding your study The goal is not to write a perfect first draft. The goal is to finish a draft that you can improve. Perfect papers are edited. They are not magically written. 📌 Save this if your first paper is still just an idea. Comment REVIEW and I’ll share the template. Comment ‘PAPER’ and I’ll send you the link to access this free paper visualizer. You can now turn any research paper into a full animated explainer by changing two letters in the URL. It’s called arXiv Visuals. You paste the link, and it gives you a narrated motion graphics video. But it doesn’t just summarize. It finds the hardest concept first, and then builds the whole explanation around teaching you that. One agent reads the paper. One designs the lesson. And One animates it. The craziest part? It was built in a single day and it won one of the biggest hackathons against hundreds of teams. It’s NotebookLM but for papers that you can actually finish.

How to read a research paper like a RESEARCHER, not like a student 📚🔍 Stop reading research papers from the first line to the last. A researcher reads with a question in mind. Here’s my approach 👇 1️⃣ Start with the Title & Abstract Understand the research problem, variables, context and purpose before investing your time. 2️⃣ Jump to the Conclusion What did the researchers actually find? What is the key contribution? 3️⃣ Decode the Tables & Figures 📊 Look at the evidence before getting lost in pages of text. 4️⃣ Understand the Methodology Ask: How was the study conducted? Is the method appropriate? 5️⃣ Read the Literature Review Strategically Identify the theories, key authors, seminal studies and research gaps. 6️⃣ Question the Findings Don’t just accept the results. Ask: Why? How? What is missing? 7️⃣ Extract the Research Gap 💡 The goal isn’t to remember everything. The goal is to identify what can be researched next. Student mindset: “What does this paper say?” Researcher mindset: “What does this paper make me question?” Save this for your next research-paper reading session 📌 #viralreeĺs #professor #academia #research #explorepage
Want to write your research paper in just one week? The secret isn't writing faster—it's following the right structure. Here's a simple roadmap that works for research articles, dissertations, and thesis writing. 📍Day 1: Introduction Start by answering three questions: What is the problem? Explain why your topic matters. What is already known and what is still unknown? Identify the research gap. What is your aim? Clearly state your objective and hypothesis. 📍Day 2: Methods Describe exactly how you conducted your study. Include: Data source Study population or samples Materials and methods Outcomes measured Statistical analysis Remember: Write enough detail so another researcher could repeat your study. 📍Day 3: Results Present your findings without explaining them. Report the most important results first. Include both positive and negative findings. Don't repeat everything shown in tables and figures—highlight the key points. 📍Day 4–5: Discussion This is where you explain your findings. Summarize the main results. Compare your findings with previous studies. Discuss why your results are similar or different. Mention the strengths and limitations of your study. Explain the practical and future implications. 📍Day 6: Conclusion End with a strong take-home message. Answer your research question. Highlight the importance of your findings. Suggest future research directions. 📍Day 7: Final Editing Before submitting: ✔️ Check grammar and spelling. ✔️ Verify all references and citations. ✔️ Remove plagiarism. ✔️ Improve flow and clarity. ✔️ Format according to the journal guidelines. ✨ A well-written research paper isn't about writing everything at once—it's about writing one section at a time. Save this post for your next paper and share it with a fellow researcher! 📚💙 #ResearchPaper #AcademicWriting #ResearchTips #PhDLife #mastersstudent
POV: the most honest part of writing a research paper is the limitations section 💀😭 After hours of research, experiments, results, revisions and questioning every life decision… you finally identify the biggest limitation: Me. It’s me. I’m the limitation. 🤝 Academic writing really keeps you humble 😂 PhD students and researchers — what’s the biggest limitation in your research right now? 👀 Save this for your next paper-writing breakdown and send it to a researcher who will understand. 😂 #phdlife #meme #college #university #conference

If you're applying to a top school, the +3 in this reel is the activity admissions readers actually remember 👇 It's independent research. Admissions officers care way more about what your activities show than how prestigious they sound. They look for the ones that show initiative, depth, and thinking that's actually yours. A research paper nails all three. It's you picking a question nobody assigned, going deeper than any class would take you, and finishing with a paper that didn't exist before you wrote it. And no, you don't need a lab or a famous last name. You need a sharp question and a mentor who's done real research to guide you. That's what we do at Lumiere. We pair you 1-on-1 with a PhD mentor who helps you shape the question, write the paper, and get it publish-ready. Follow and comment RESEARCH and we'll send you the full guide to building a research project that stands out. #Lumiere #LumiereEducation #HighSchoolResearch
