🍱 Traditional monk’s meal (Shōjin Ryōri)
At 📍Yakuoin Guest Hall, you can enjoy a course lunch of shōjin ryōri - traditional Buddhist cuisine eaten by monks 😱
It’s completely vegetarian, made with seasonal ingredients, and based on Buddhist principles of respecting all forms of life!
One of a kind experience you can only have in a temple like this and it turned out to be one of the best meals I’ve had in Japan!
🔥 Goma fire ritual
A traditional Buddhist fire ceremony where monks pray over one wish of your choice and offer it into a purifying flame. The ritual is truly unique - we haven’t seen anything similar before!
Afterward, you receive a wooden prayer tablet used during the ritual - a powerful and meaningful keepsake!
