Printing the pink and blue layers! ⭐ The final stint of our risoprinting at @peacockandtheworm involved using their 2 drum riso machine which was super exciting!! We whizzed through and stacked the racks full to the brim with our prints 🏰 These prints are all available on our shop! Here’s a quick look at my risograph printing process :) Printed at @risoroom_esa at @eaststreetarts , this 2-colour print in orange and teal came together one layer at a time. I love how hands-on it is, it’s great to step away from the computer for a while.

Riso prints I have made , I’ve recently started learning how to use a riso printer , volunteering at thin ice press . There are many buttons on a riso printer many of which I’m not entirely sure what they do but I know how to make these at least , I wish I just had one at home. If anyone’s feeling generous just send one to my house that would be appreciated greatly. #riso #printmaking #art #graphic #printmaker

🌀 what are the top 5 reasons i love riso printing? 💫 1. I can do it myself as a process driven person! I like being a part of the creation and am lucky enough to have access to a risograph printer in my studio! Riso prints one layer at a time and requires a lot of attention and care to detail, I really like locking into that part of printmaking. 2. it’s imperfect! With riso, no two prints are exactly the same, each having unique ink marks, scuffs, misregistration, etc. It can be frustrating chasing perfection in art and I think the riso keeps my heart open to the beauty of things that aren’t machine perfect. 3. the colors are so vibrant and fun! Riso has so many cool, unique spot colors to print with beyond the typical color printer CMYK offering. I get to highlight colors like Coral, mint, light lime, hunter green, aqua and more in my work! 4. it allows me to print large runs so my art can get to as many people as possible! Riso is great at duplicating fast and efficiently (sometimes… lol). This process is the perfect balance between hands-on and automated, meaning I can print larger runs to get my art further into the world! When it’s working well it can print super quickly compared to more traditional print methods where you have to pull each layer individually by hand. 5. it’s inherent look, limitations and boundaries have helped define my style as an artist! My style has definitely evolved to reflect what the riso wants to print! I always have it in the back of my head that anything I design COULD be riso printed which has taught me to keep my designs simple with a limited color palette.
