A margine del Consiglio europeo ho promosso, insieme al Presidente della Romania, Nicușor Dan, una riunione informale dei Capi di Stato e di Governo degli Stati membri del gruppo “Amici della Coesione”, per rafforzare il coordinamento politico sul prossimo Quadro Finanziario Pluriennale dell’UE, in una fase cruciale della trattativa che definirà le priorità strategiche e l’architettura del futuro bilancio europeo. Nel corso dell’incontro è stata ribadita la convinzione condivisa che il futuro bilancio dell’Unione debba consentire di affrontare le nuove sfide strategiche senza penalizzare le politiche previste dai Trattati, a partire dalla politica di coesione, dalla Politica Agricola Comune e dalla Politica Comune della Pesca. Politiche che rappresentano investimenti essenziali per il futuro dell’Europa. Abbiamo infine confermato la comune determinazione a mantenere una posizione unitaria nel negoziato e un’azione coordinata anche a livello politico in tutte le fasi della trattativa sul prossimo Quadro Finanziario Pluriennale.
