Marriage hasn’t always been easy for us.
Emily and I have had some serious down points.
Low spots.
Hard seasons.
The kind that humble you. The kind that stretch you. The kind that make you wonder, “Are we actually going to be okay?”
And we’ve also had some unbelievable peaks.
The kind that remind you why you chose each other in the first place.
Tomorrow we’re leading a full day in Mexico with an amazing group of people talking about legacy.
And we’re gearing up to lead a full-day summit for couples to work on their marriages.
From the outside… it probably looks like we have it all together.
😂 LOL.
That’s so far from the truth.
What we do have is commitment.
A stubborn, unwavering belief that we’re better together.
So yeah… we still butt heads.
We still disagree.
We still have moments where we miss each other completely.
And we also laugh hysterically.
We still choose each other again.
We still fight for “us” even when it would be easier to coast.
We’re not experts.
But we are passionate students.
And we love learning alongside other people who care about their marriage enough to work on it.
Because a strong marriage isn’t something you find.
It’s something you build.
On purpose.
Over time.
In the middle of real life.
And we’re still building.
❤️

🌱✨ Nature’s Secret Web: The Mycorrhizal Magic Beneath Our Feet ✨🌱
Beneath the surface of every thriving native garden lies a mind-blowing, invisible network—a living internet of fungi and roots known as the “wood wide web.”
California native plants have tapped into this ancient system, forming mycorrhizae—a symbiotic relationship where fungi and roots partner up to create connection, communication, and collective wisdom.
🧠💬 Plants Talk.
When a plant comes under attack—say, from a hungry caterpillar—it can send chemical signals through this underground network to warn its neighbors. And those neighbors? They don’t just listen. They respond—arming themselves with chemical defenses or summoning helpful insects. It’s like a community group chat... but with roots and spores.
💧🤝 Plants Share.
In times of drought or distress, healthier plants can send water, nutrients, and even carbon through this fungal web to struggling neighbors. It’s generosity encoded into their biology—a quiet resilience woven through the soil.
🌿🌎 Plants Adapt.
This network boosts access to nutrients, strengthens resistance to disease, and helps entire plant communities ride out change. It’s why California natives are so resilient, so wise. They don’t just survive—they collaborate.
So next time you walk through a patch of sage or admire a blooming lupine, remember: there’s a whole hidden world below, connecting, protecting, and whispering through the roots.

Ustadh Othman Altalib reminds us that one of the most beautiful fruits of faith is community. In our Tree of Faith series and Rooted Together theme, the branches represent our relationships with Allah and each other—stretching outward to uplift, support, and grow together.
📖 “And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression.” (Surah Al-Ma’idah, 5:2)
Strong communities are built on small acts of kindness and shared purpose. Just like the branches of a tree that intertwine to create strength and beauty, our bonds with one another nourish a thriving, faith-filled environment.

After 18 years in California, packing up our lives and moving across the country to start over in a new state has been one of the most emotional, stressful, and challenging transitions we’ve ever faced. Between the chaos of moving trucks, broken routines, and so much unknown—it’s been overwhelming.
But sometimes, in the middle of the storm, you need to pause.
To breathe.
To ground yourself.
So that’s what Whitney and I did.
We planted trees and new life into the soil of our new home—not just to decorate the land, but to symbolize growth, faith, and resilience.
Each root we laid down was a quiet prayer.
Each plant a reminder: We are exactly where we’re meant to be.
New roots, new beginnings, and a love that continues to grow stronger through every chapter.
When life feels heavy, go outside. Plant something. Ground yourself in the Earth, in love, and in God.
This is just the beginning.

For some of us, war feels far away—until someone like Katya speaks.
Then we remember that for many of our neighbors, it’s heartbreakingly close.
From Ukraine to Gaza, Iran to Sudan and Congo—whether in our newsfeeds, our families, or our memories—conflict touches us all.
And still, in community, we find hope.
When we stand together in love, in listening, and in action, we become a living, breathing sign that hope holds us together.
At Treetops it is our mission to spread hope and build belonging - will you join us?
We invite you to give $50 today to support our work that creates this community of hope—not just for ourselves, but for our children.

No plans. Just a sunny patch of earth and all of us digging in.
We planted kale, carrots, onions… and of course, some flowers—because we all love them, especially Élise 🌸🌷.
The garden is starting to look like us now… Not perfect. But really, really cozy.

In the garden, the pea pods remind me: growth isn’t a solo act🌿
Whether in life or business, we need people beside us—those who get it, who grow with us, who hold space when we need rest and cheer us on when it’s our time to bloom🌼
Like peas in a pod🫛, we’re meant to be connected.
Rooted in support. Twining toward something bigger—together.
💚 Take a breath today and ask: Where do I feel most supported—and where can I offer that to someone else?

One trail, many footsteps — shared stories, fresh air, and the kind of connection that makes AYF what it is.
Our AYF Juniors showed up with great energy and spirit, and we kept it simple: walk, talk, laugh, and be together.
Thank you to Ընկեր Անթօ for leading with heart.
