When the race ends, we mostly see the finish line celebration clips, splits, and podiums. We can lose sight of the years behind them. John Korir took his shot at the Frankfurt Marathon in 2019 and finished 12th. It wasn’t the result he needed to justify a career as a runner. He went back home to Kenya and to farming. But he kept training - through COVID, and when he got his second chance the results started to come - LA, Valencia, Chicago, and Boston…twice. It’s easy to celebrate the wins. It’s harder to appreciate the seasons where nothing seems to be working. But those are the moments that make everything that follows possible. “Don’t wait until you’re running on empty to ask for help," says Natali Edmonds, a board-certified geropsychologist and the founder of Dementia Careblazers (@dementia_careblazers). U.S. News & World Report just released the results of a survey showing that 88% of caregivers report feeling overwhelmed or emotionally drained due to their caregiving role. Where do you find that help? Turn to your community, or find professional help with a home health agencies. 58% of caregivers surveyed had used a home health agency, and of those, 73% were "satisfied" or "very satisfied" with the care provided. The biggest first step is to ask. "You don’t have to earn your help, you don’t even have to prove you need it," Edmonds says. Robots just ran a half marathon. According to Reuters, more than 100 humanoid robots lined up in Beijing yesterday — with roughly 40% running fully autonomously. The winning autonomous machine, “Lightning,” finished in 50:26. Last year’s winner took over 2 hours. Official robots ran independently. Others were remotely controlled and ran even faster! 48:05 won but the result didn’t count. DNF’s were off the charts so at least we still have an edge there! MINIONS Vs Scientology Building. Weird world. Strange new trend of groups of young people and other groups bursting into Scientology buildings and filming and then running out… Maybe the Kia trends will stop since I drive a Kia… And they will stop stealing the keys in that weird viral trend. @kiadealer @minions #minions #scientology #flashmob #news #screenwriter
The running world is buzzing over Emma Bates and the recent news regarding her sponsorship with UCAN. Following the announcement that she is expecting her first child, the fan-favorite American marathoner revealed she is no longer with her longtime nutrition partner—and the reasons why have sparked a significant debate about athlete protections. Here’s the breakdown of the situation: The Allegation In a recent social media video, Emma Bates stated that she was dropped by UCAN after informing them of her pregnancy. While sharing her experience trying new fueling products for her current training, she noted, "Since my fueling company dropped me after telling them I was pregnant, I have been trying a bunch of new gels." The Response from UCAN UCAN has firmly denied that the pregnancy was the catalyst for ending the partnership. According to a spokesperson for the brand: The decision to part ways was reportedly made in September 2025 as part of a shift in business strategy. The company claims they were unaware of her pregnancy at that time. UCAN stated they offered a "reduced agreement" for 2026, which Bates ultimately declined. The Agent’s Rebuttal Bates’s agency, Flynn Sports Management, has pushed back on UCAN’s timeline. They allege that negotiations were ongoing well past September and that the terms of the offer were significantly altered after the company was made aware of her pregnancy in December. Why It Matters This situation highlights the ongoing struggle for female professional athletes regarding maternity protections in endorsement contracts. While major brands like ASICS (Emma’s shoe sponsor) have publicly confirmed their commitment to supporting her through pregnancy and her return to competition, the UCAN split serves as a reminder that not all contracts offer the same safety nets. As one of the most consistent and beloved runners in the U.S. (boasting a 2:23:18 PR), Emma's journey into motherhood—and her eventual return to the marathon—will undoubtedly be one of the most watched stories in the sport. #EmmaBates #Marathon #RunningNews #UCAN
