Dear Sam, You’re the special kind of athlete that a coach dreams of. Not only are you good at everything you decide to try your hand at (seriously how are you so good at everything?), you’re the kind of athlete who goes above and beyond. Your athletic prowess, was only matched by your gallant heart and demeanor - not just for sports but also for your fellow human. Your patient and empathetic manner with those around you who needed guidance or encouragement, even when you were learning the ropes or facing hardship yourself was one of your many amazing qualities and gifts. An inspiration to those around you, including me. And I will tell your story and speak your name any and every opportunity I get. I’m going to miss your sticky notes on my desk, playing connections with you, coaching you - most of all I’m just going to miss you, so so much. The joy and light you brought everywhere you go - we will carry. That special light is your legacy. That light will never, ever dim. Until we meet again, Kid. Keep hitting them out of the park. Thank you for sharing your short time here with all of us. On February 6 at Clinton High School, the Comets and the Clinton Community will gather to honor the life and legacy of Coach Sam Constantino, a beloved friend, mentor, and leader who faced his battle with pancreatic cancer with grace and resilience. Like the game of basketball, life is full of obstacles, challenges, and moments where we have to dig deep. Sam embodied "The Climb"—never backing down, always lifting others up, and embracing every step of the journey with gratitude and love. Join us at 5:30 PM as we celebrate Sam’s impact on the Clinton Community and raise awareness for Project Purple, a cause he held close to his heart. After a devastating car crash nearly took his life, Sam spent 100 days in recovery with his Mary Free Bed Kids Pediatric Inpatient team. Six weeks into his stay, he whispered his first words: ‘Hi Mom.’ The rest is #SamStrong history. 🧡 Sam returned home in December 2022 – setting out to achieve extraordinary milestones 🏆 with a village of support behind him. I hate coming into another year without you— I don’t know how this can be reality. My mind has yet to accept it. A continuous nightmare. I had a nightmare last night— a nightmare I had lost you in. I woke myself up from crying, and it continued when I realized that nightmare was my reality. If only I could hug you, or tell you how much I love you. In person. My heart aches. My boy, my sweet, sweet boy. It never should have been you. I’d give my life endless times, in endless lifetimes, just for you to have been able to live yours. I love you forever, Samson. You’d be turning 18 this year. You’d start senior year this year. Jeder Cent unserer Einnahmen ging direkt an ihn, damit er die beste Versorgung bekommt. 🙌❤️ Und das Beste: Die ganze Nachbarschaft hat mitgezogen und einen Straßen-Flohmarkt mit über 40 Ständen auf die Beine gestellt!
