8 flights, 7 days, 6 cities, 5 time zones crossed, 4 hotel rooms, 3 workshops, 2 keynotes, 1 unstoppable woman (sound on 🔊)
…all while nearly 9 months pregnant (two weeks ago).
Pressure isn’t oppression.
And exhaustion isn’t an identity.
We’ve normalized lowering the bar.
We’ve glorified comfort.
We’ve started clapping for “busy” instead of disciplined.
The reality? 👇🏼
Your circumstances don’t decide your output.
Your standards do.
Was I tired? Yes.
Was I swollen? Yes.
Did I have an excuse to slow down? Probably.
But I don’t build my life around what’s convenient.
I build it around what’s aligned.
When major companies fly you coast to coast to train their sales teams and leaders, you show up.
When you say you’re committed, you do it. No questions asked.
When you carry a mission, you carry it fully - bump and all.
And before someone says, “That’s not healthy” or “You shouldn’t push like that”…
Let’s be clear.
Strength is not recklessness.
Discipline is not self-destruction.
And ambition is not neglect.
It’s ownership.
There’s a difference between being busy…
and being built for pressure.
Most people want the stage.
Very few are willing to carry the weight that comes with it.
This wasn’t about proving anything.
It was about living what I teach.
Grit isn’t a slogan.
It’s behavior under load.
And if I can do that across 5 time zones at nearly 9 months pregnant… 👇🏼
Then,
You can make the call.
Send the proposal.
Lead the team.
Raise your standard.
No excuses.
Just execution.
RAISE your standards.
RAISE your GRIT.
RAISE your life.
- LJ
PS - And yes, my husband @officialadamjj is a combat medic… so traveling at 9 months pregnant came with a very qualified emergency plan. 😁

Want to know a secret? Every single time I travel, go on a retreat, invest in my business, or hire a mentor or coach, there is so much resistance right before I do the thing.
Today, on the way to the airport, I got a call from the school that my daughter was sick. Here it was again—resistance. The last two trips, warning lights on my dashboard came up. Thankfully, this is not my first rodeo with resistance. I can recognize it, ask for support (in this case, from my husband and his amazing mom), and keep moving forward. I can ask my mentor, “Hey, this resistance is coming up,” and name it.
As she so wisely said, it’s like the universe is asking, “Are you sure? Are you sure you really want this?” Let me tell you—every single time I have pushed myself through it, I’ve taken off on the other side. This time, quite literally. In other instances, the breakthrough—the desire—was right on the other side.
This is your sign to get the support and name it as you walk through it.

It is truly an honor to walk in purpose 💫
Today, I had the ultimate pleasure of joining First Stop’s staff meeting, and the experience was nothing short of fulfilling. There’s something powerful about connecting with an organization whose mission aligns so closely with the work we do through Job Corps. Being able to build a meaningful connection, share knowledge, and pour into a team that is equally committed to changing lives was priceless.
Moments like these remind me that purpose-driven work creates impact far beyond what we can see. Grateful for the opportunity to empower, collaborate, and continue making a difference—together 💛

I owe you an apology.
I haven’t been showing up here the way I want to. But last week, as I wrapped up week 3 of 6 with our current Vision C.A.N.V.A.S. cohort, something hit me:
I feel so deeply about enabling and encouraging nonprofit leaders who are doing the quiet, courageous work of changing the world and yet I haven’t been showing up in the very place that allows me to encourage them.
Every week I get to sit with leaders wrestling with big questions about mission, generosity, community, and clarity. And the truth is—those conversations shouldn’t stay inside client meetings and workbooks.
They belong out here, too.
Not because @instagram needs more content. But because leaders doing good things deserve encouragement wherever they are.
So here’s what you can expect from me when I show up here:
💫 Encouragement for leaders doing hard and meaningful work
💫 Practical tools and resources to move from chaos to clarity
💫 Honest reflections from the rooms where leaders are building the future of their organizations
💫 Simple frameworks to help teams align vision, narrative, and generosity
💫 Reminders that philanthropy is ultimately how we #LovePeople well
💫 Celebrating the good things happening across our sector
💫 A nudge that you don’t have to carry all of this alone
💫 And the occasional reference to Diet Coke among other things that bring me joy.
I’ll be showing up here more often, sharing what I’m learning from the remarkable people I get to walk alongside.
Because despite the noise, there are a lot of good things happening in this sector. And they’re worth talking about.
PS - are YOU doing a good thing? I’d love to hear about it to cheer you on AND help you share? Drop a comment or send me a DM.
Let’s talk busy…
Everyone has a level of “busy.”
But here’s what I’ve learned—
The people who are truly busy…
are the ones who know how to get things done.
They don’t wait for more time.
They build with what they have.
When I share the mission—to get America healthy and take it global—
the right people feel it immediately.
They want to be part of something that actually matters.
But too often, they hesitate…
because they think they’re “too busy.”
Truth is—
busy isn’t the barrier.
It’s the qualifier.
I don’t talk much about my schedule because it can sound overwhelming—
but what I will say is this:
I’ve learned how to build this within my life, not outside of it.
Focused time where it matters…
and the rest fits into the margins.
This mission doesn’t need more people with time.
It needs people with vision.
People who care deeply.
People who follow through.
If that’s you—
I’ll mentor you with the rest.
So let me ask you…
Are you “too busy”… or exactly the kind of person I’m looking for?

What gets me excited for the Leadership Study Mission isn’t just the travel
It’s the people.
These trips have introduced me to mentors, guides, and peers I never would’ve crossed paths with otherwise. I’ve learned from people far ahead of me, and had the chance to support others starting on a path I’ve walked (or fallen) down.
That mix is intentional.
Small business and large business.
Non-profit..public sector. Different perspectives.
Different journeys.
You don’t attend something like this and not gain value.
The days are full. You walk a lot, but you are well fed.
But the real magic is the in-between moments, chance conversations on the bus, connections you didn’t know you needed, exposure to parts of the community you wouldn’t know how to engage with on your own.
That’s why I love documenting these trips. The expressions are real, nothing is staged.
I’m capturing the start of something, a relationship, a shared insight, maybe even a future collaboration.
And none of it happens by accident.
The Chamber team does an incredible job orchestrating the movement, the pacing, and the space for these moments to happen. Behind the scenes facilitating connections that compound long after the trip ends.
As the documenter, I watch it all unfold.
The story isn’t finished when the trip is over. My photos might just be the opening frames of an epic origin story.
To be continued.
Zero bias here. 🫶🥰
Just genuinely good humans who love what we do — and love the people we get to do it with and for. 💕
Twice a year, we pause.
Not because we have to… but because growth requires intention.
We take stock.
We reflect on what’s working.
We own what needs tightening.
We reconnect to our mission.
And then we move forward — aligned and on purpose.
What makes this team special isn’t just the goals we set.
It’s the way we chase them — together.
The lending hands.
The hard conversations.
The shared wins.
The “I’ve got you” moments.
Somewhere along the way, coworkers became family.
And that kind of culture? You can feel it in everything we do — and how well we do it.
Onward. 💫
Planning in motion…Site inspections, leadership meetings, events executing and more! Zero Zero is on the move across the country this month. #momentsmatter #momentsonthemove #onsite #momentmakers
So grateful for the gift of a 30-minute lunch break ☀️
Today we chose not to just sit — we chose to move.
Sunshine, steps, fresh air… and rich conversation with two amazing leaders.
There’s something powerful about walking and talking — ideas flow, encouragement multiplies, and connection deepens. 💛
Leadership isn’t only built in boardrooms.
Sometimes it’s strengthened on sidewalks… in the sun… during a simple 30-minute break.
Grateful for movement.
Grateful for balance.
Grateful for leaders who pour in and walk alongside. 👣✨
