Don’t let anyone make you feel like you don’t belong in STEM — especially when it comes to competency. Girls get higher and more consistent average grades on in STEM courses, so trust in the data and trust in yourself 🫶🏻.
You might ask, why don’t more women pursue STEM then? Unfortunately it’s a mix of systemic and social barriers that create a hostile environment. What we can do is ignore all the noise and try to shine despite of all the people trying to bring us down.

150 fifth- and sixth-grade girls explored STEM careers through hands-on learning at the TechHers event hosted at Davis School District’s Catalyst Center.
Students from Buffalo Point and Syracuse elementary schools built lemon batteries and heard from a panel of women working in STEM fields during the general session.
The event also featured more than a dozen breakout sessions, with topics ranging from construction to video game design. Organizers say introducing STEM at the elementary level helps students take advantage of courses in junior high and high school as they prepare for college and future careers.
If we want more women to remain in STEM careers, we have to make sure that they feel they belong. Kelley discusses what we can do to help them stay 🎧
