Before we ever pick up a camera — we have a meeting. 🎥
Most people think video production starts when the camera turns on.
It doesn’t.
It starts HERE. In conversations like this one.
This is our pre-production meeting — and it’s honestly one of the most important parts of the entire process.
Here’s what we cover 👇
📋 The Business Goals
What are you actually trying to accomplish? More sales? Brand awareness? Lead generation? Your video needs a PURPOSE before it needs a camera.
🎬 The Creative Direction
What’s the vibe? The tone? The story we’re telling? This is where your vision meets our expertise.
📝 The Shot List
Every single shot planned in advance. No guessing on set. No wasted time. No missing moments.
📍 Location & Logistics
Where are we shooting? What do we need? What could go wrong — and how do we prevent it?
🎙 Talking Points & Scripting
So you show up confident — not confused.
Here’s the truth:
A bad pre-production meeting = a chaotic shoot = a mediocre video.
A GREAT pre-production meeting = a smooth shoot = a video that actually CONVERTS. 💰
This is what separates professional video production from someone just pointing a camera at you.
Your investment deserves planning. Your story deserves intention.
That’s what we do.

People think it’s about the equipment… the high-end cameras, big lights, and full crews. And yeah, that stuff is dope — but the real magic is the vision behind it and the people bringing it to life.
My latest commercial reminded me of that. Same passion, same creativity — just elevated with a team of incredible creatives and filmmakers all locked in on one goal.
Had an amazing time on set, learning, building, and creating at a higher level. This is what it’s about.

We learned a lot making our Skip spec, but the biggest lesson was this:
Pre-production is everything.
We spent a full month preparing because production days are expensive, and time doesn’t just cost money, it compounds.
Every “we’ll figure it out on set” moment turns into:
- rushed decisions
- missed coverage
- a stressed crew
- and a post timeline that suddenly hates you back
The goal in prep wasn’t perfection. It was clarity:
- logistics that actually made sense
- a crew that knew the plan
- a schedule built for reality, not optimism
- and enough margin to handle the inevitable curveball
We also learned something that hit us right in the ego (in a good way):
Ambition is fuel, but constraints are the steering wheel.
Going big is great.
But knowing your limits, budget, time, experience, daylight, locations, gear, is what lets you make something strong without breaking the shoot or the edit.
Ambitious and realistic is the sweet spot.
If you’re building your own spec or planning a shoot, save this for the next time you’re tempted to wing it.
And filmmakers, what’s the one step you’ll never skip again? 👇
“Leave filmmaking to the pros,” they said. 🎬
So we did what any professionals would do:
• Dance for exposure tests
• Replace actors with puppets
• Build a slider stand out of apple boxes
• Climb dangerously tall ladders to tame the light
It’s not glamorous.
It’s not always graceful.
But it’s sacrificially creative — and it works.
The final 30 seconds look effortless.
The process? That’s the fun part. ;)

Ready is a myth 🗣️
Nobody feels ready the first time they book a real client, hit record, raise their rates, or post their work online. I didn’t!!
You just do it anyway. Shoutout Nike.
Growth in this industry comes from doing things slightly before you feel qualified to do them. When you’re starting out, you’re not qualified, but you go get it anyway. Even after I had years of school and personal training, that first time delivering something to a paying client had me nervous as hell.
Then you do it, and you realize… oh. That wasn’t that scary. So the next one gets easier, and so on and so forth you build your portfolio, you build your brand… now you’re qualified.
If I waited until I felt ready to charge for work, I’d probably still be waiting tables. At some point you stop waiting and start moving. That’s when things actually change, and get better.

I didn’t get into filmmaking to produce.
I got into it to be behind the lens.
Shooting. Editing. Building images. Figuring out the story in the cut.
But somewhere along the way I started a production company… and suddenly I’m the guy in the middle of everything.
And the weird part is — I’m kind of wired for it.
I’m such a control freak about the details that I understand exactly what the filmmakers need to do their best work.
But I also understand the reality of clients… their goals, their expectations, the things they’re trying to accomplish.
So now I live in this weird place in between.
Protecting the creative.
Translating the business.
Making sure the work still means something.
Because the client isn’t always right.
But the filmmakers can’t always just run wild either.
There’s a line both sides have to walk.
And somehow… I’m the one balancing on the tightrope trying to keep the whole thing moving forward.
Not where I expected to end up.
But here we are. 🎬
Why I chose this “weird” shooting format 🎥👇🏼
The answer is easy…With everything you’re either shooting or directing there should be intentionality behind it.
And since I knew these pieces were primarily being made to live on instagram and other socials I wanted a frame that took up a little more space on your phone screen, but that also didn’t feel to vertical.
16:9 was too wide and 9:16 was too tall.
Something that felt like a beautiful middle ground was 1:1
16:9 is a wide rectangle. When you later crop that to vertical (9:16), you’re throwing away a lot of pixels on the sides.
1:1 is a square. That means more height relative to width, so when you crop to vertical, you’re retaining way more usable image area.
Ultimately, theres no right or wrong way to do something. The creative choices are yours to make, But that being said you should make those choices with serious intention.

We’ve had the privilege to work with some great brands over the past couple of years, reshaping the way brand stories are told. 🎥✍️
Grateful for the trust, the collaborations, and the journey so far.

Let’s talk post-production.
This is where we take everything we’ve filmed and start shaping the story. Once shooting wraps, we ingest the footage, review it carefully, and pull the strongest selects for the edit.
This is where it all starts coming together.
