As we go into the weekend, how do you stop from the rapid pace of life some weeks can hold? 🫣 When Nick and I got engaged 8 years ago, we experienced our first sabbath. The extent we saw of going full ✋🏼 stop on everything work related was incredible. If our culture won’t embrace rest, we will have to in our own families to experience it. 🙌🏼 My friend Shoval (@shovalrozenberg) travels a lot with her family, but they find that fun and restful. For us, we don’t do much at all on Friday & Saturdays. My best tips for fully embracing a rest day is: • Delete your socials (or try apps like Opal) to restrict yourself from overuse • Commit from a day off of laundry and dishes (speaking especially to the moms here 🤣) • Read a lot more than you may during the week! • Make one bigger and slower meal • Ask intentional questions to your family and friends at the dinner table What else would you add? So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.” Genesis‬ ‭2‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭ We are blessed with this beautiful 4th commandment: “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
