So …. Recently, I had a friend from Wichita Ks ( where I was born and raised), ask me if I think my Mother would be ok with the Anti-Organized Religion stance I take. I thought about it for a bit. Here’s my take on it. For half my life, I simply followed what I was told when it came to religion. Got baptized at 12. Every song I wrote and recorded was Gospel. All scripture based. But my DAD, who left our household when I was 7, had been a voracious reader , and a VERY Afrocentric person. ( Even tho HIS Mom was finantically religious - Jehovah’s Witness ). He found his own spiritual path, and walked it. Ironically it was his Mother that told him to leave us. Or he would go to hell…( He never married my Mom ). Because my Dad taught me how to read BEFORE I ever went to school, I was a strong reader, once I started school. History and English were my things. So being a smart ass, and very curious… I started asking questions to my Mom like: “Who is King James? And WHY does HE have a whole version of the Bible?” Of course she, nor my Pastor could answer any of the many questions I had. But one day, after scoring a record deal, and getting out of Kansas, I met a person who was super knowledgeable about the Origins Of Religions. And specifically The true Origins of Mankind. So, out on the West Coast, up in Sacramento, I started purchasing books from Sac State on the subject. The things I learned angered me. Because I realized that the 2 places where I was going to be educated - failed me miserably. Church & School. Had I known that Africa is where ALL Mankind comes from. And all the “race” stuff was just migration and time. And how our Ancestors had our OWN spiritual rituals , that weren’t corrupted ( yet ) by what became the White mans “God” and religion. But once you learn this stuff, it’s hard to speak on it to people U grew up with. Cuz they think you’ve somehow turned your back on God!!!! ( Never that ). Nope. I just learned that my spiritual path is not determined by OTHER peoples IDEAS and doctrines. I feel closer to my Creator than ever actually. So when I hear THIS lady say what’s she’s saying… It makes perfect sense

Alright… halfway through my semester in speech class. Never thought I’d be at Sac State, but here I am just trying to get better and working my ass off. Still dealing with things day by day, so bear with me and be patient—I’m trying. Coming up on 5 months since my stroke… it hasn’t been easy, not even close. But I’m still showing up, still pushing, still doing my best. And don’t get it twisted… always repping the Aggies 💙💛 #UCD

Very proud of my niece @morgan_beatty who may not always be the loudest in the room and may not always think she matters as much as others… but who always makes sure others know that THEY matter! Meanwhile, she’s at Sac State AFTER having received two bachelor degrees from Sonoma State University. This is what $950 - $1400 gets you near Sac State. Not gonna lie… this actually surprised me. Way more space, way cleaner, and it doesn’t feel like typical student housing. What I liked most is everything being included furniture, utilities, even meals so you’re not stressing about random bills every month.
