Sailing might be one of the most misunderstood sports out there… 🌊 While growing up, I was often asked “is sailing really a sport”. People often picture a sunny, relaxing Sunday afternoon sail. But I quickly learned, it was so much more than that. It’s adrenaline, speed, strength, teamwork, and competition. It’s being completely exhausted after a day on the water, yet somehow wanting to do it all over again the next morning. Some days we’re flying across the water. Other days we’re sitting there desperately searching for the tiniest bit of wind and trying to get around the course as fast as possible. Sometimes everything clicks, and sometimes absolutely nothing goes to plan. But I think that’s what makes this sport so special. No two days are ever the same, and there’s always something new to learn. I’ve spent most of my life sailing, and somehow I still get that same feeling of excitement every time we head out on the water. And now I get to chase an Olympic dream doing something I genuinely love. Pretty lucky if you ask me. 🤍 So here’s a little glimpse into what sailing actually looks like.
