🌍 Sometimes the most unbelievable facts are hiding in plain sight.
When people think about space, they imagine an endless sea of stars. But if you compare the number of stars in the Milky Way Galaxy with the number of trees growing on Earth, the result surprises almost everyone.
It’s a reminder that our planet is far more extraordinary than we often realize.
The Universe is unimaginably vast—but Earth is home to billions of living systems that are just as incredible.

Physics isn’t just something you learn in a classroom—it’s happening all around us every single day. This simple floor-cleaning technique is a perfect demonstration of circular motion, one of the most fundamental concepts in mechanics.
As the worker rotates around the center, the floor squeegee continuously moves in a circular path. To keep the motion going, a centripetal force constantly pulls the system toward the center, while the squeegee’s natural tendency is to move in a straight line due to inertia. The result is an efficient circular sweep that covers a large area with minimal effort.
This technique not only saves time but also distributes force evenly, making cleaning faster and less physically demanding. It’s a brilliant example of how understanding basic physics can improve everyday tasks without expensive equipment or advanced technology.
From satellites orbiting Earth to race cars taking corners and even a janitor cleaning a supermarket floor, the same laws of circular motion govern them all. Science truly is everywhere—you just have to know where to look.
🧠 Did you already know this was an application of circular motion?

Why do molecules take different shapes even when they contain only a few atoms?
Molecular geometry is determined by how electron pairs arrange themselves around a central atom to minimize repulsion. For example, methane (CH₄) has a tetrahedral shape, while phosphorus pentachloride (PCl₅) has a trigonal bipyramidal geometry with 90°, 120°, and 180° bond angles. These structures can be predicted using VSEPR theory, which helps us understand the three-dimensional arrangement of atoms in molecules.
Quick answer: Molecular shape depends on electron-pair repulsion around the central atom, and VSEPR theory is used to predict geometries such as tetrahedral and trigonal bipyramidal.

That’s possible because dragonflies are wired differently from almost every other flying insect. Most insects have their wings mechanically linked or fused, so they move as a single unit. Dragonflies instead have direct muscles attached to the base of each wing individually, letting them control the pitch, angle, and stroke of all four completely on their own. It’s the insect equivalent of a helicopter pilot adjusting four separate rotors at once.
That independent control is exactly what lets a dragonfly hover with zero drift, reverse direction instantly, and snap into a sharp turn mid-chase — abilities most flying insects simply don’t have. Researchers have found this four-wing system has stayed essentially unchanged for over 300 million years, making it one of the oldest flight designs still in use today.
So next time you see a dragonfly hovering motionless over water, know that it isn’t holding still by accident. It’s actively recalculating its position with every wingbeat.
Did you know each wing was moving independently like this?
