🍽️ DIY Digestive System | Human Body STEM
Ever wondered what happens to your food after you take a bite? 👀
We turned a simple Ziploc bag into a hands-on digestive system and followed the journey of “food” through the body! 🥨➡️💩
👄 Mouth → Chewing + saliva begin digestion
🚇 Esophagus → Peristalsis pushes food downward
🫃 Stomach → Acid + enzymes break down and mix food
🧬 Small intestine → Nutrients are absorbed into the blood
💧 Large intestine → Water + salts are absorbed
🚽 Rectum → Stores waste
💩 Anus → Waste leaves the body
🔬 What we used
• Ziploc bag
• Clear glycerin + water
• Dry beans
• Marker + tape
The beans represent food, while moving them through the drawn pathway models the journey food takes through the digestive tract.
📌 SAVE this for your next Human Body activity!

Comment “FOOD” 👇
This is a simplified model of the digestive system and does not represent every chemical process of digestion.

Watching science through a child’s eyes is pure magic. 🧪✨ Every little reaction becomes a big discovery! 💙👧🧒

I love simple science experiments where kids can actually SEE the science happening right in front of them. 🧪✨
We layered honey, water, and oil, then dropped in different objects to see where they would settle.
The science behind it is all about density and buoyancy! The liquids separate into layers based on their densities, and each object will sink or float depending on its density compared to the liquid around it and the buoyant force acting on it. 🤯
Such a simple, hands-on way to turn science into play! 🤍

Sink, float… or stop somewhere in between? 👀🔬
We’re back with Part 2 of our density experiment, and this time we tested even MORE objects!
We created three liquid layers using honey, water, and oil. They stay separated because each liquid has a different density: honey is the most dense, water sits in the middle, and oil is the least dense.
Then came the fun part. 🧪 We tested:
🪙 Coin
🫐 Blueberries
🍊 Orange
🧊 Ice
🍇 Grape
🪨 Rock
🧶 Pom pom
🤍 Styrofoam
Each object sinks through or floats on the liquids depending on its density and buoyancy, so they don’t all end up in the same place. Some travel all the way down, some settle around a layer, and others stay near the top.
✨ Before dropping each one, ask your child: “Where do you think it will stop?” Turning it into a prediction game is such an easy way to introduce density, buoyancy, observation, and scientific thinking through play.

A super easy experiment that works on the first try! The secret is all in the video. 👀✨ Kids can’t stop playing with it!
It’s also a fun way to encourage oral motor skills and language development while exploring a simple science experiment. 🧠💬 #KidsScienceExperiment #PreschoolScience #ScienceForKids #KidsActivities #LearningThroughPlay
Comment “FISH” and I’ll send you the template.
Fun fact: We first learned this song at Eva’s ballet class when she was 2, and it’s still one of our favorites. 🫠

👻 WAIT FOR THE GHOST TO FLY! ✨
A simple tea bag + a little science = the coolest “flying ghost” trick! 🔥
As the tea bag burns, the warm air rises and creates an upward force that makes the lightweight ash structure lift off the surface. 🌬️🚀
It looks like magic… but it’s SCIENCE! 🧪✨
👧🏻 Perfect for sparking curiosity and getting little minds excited about STEM!
Save this one for your next science-at-home session! ❤️

🫗 Watch the digestive system in action!
Learning becomes unforgettable when kids can see how food travels through the body. In this hands-on digestive system model, colored liquid moves through the transparent pipe, demonstrating the journey from the mouth ➜ esophagus ➜ stomach ➜ intestines ➜ rectum.
This interactive activity helps children:
• Understand the path of digestion
• Learn the names and functions of digestive organs
• Visualize how food moves through the body
• Build curiosity through STEM-based, hands-on learning
Perfect for classrooms, science fairs, homeschool lessons, and curious young learners!
