The 2015 Dutch TT at Assen featured one of the most famous and debated finishes in MotoGP history, where Valentino Rossi secured victory after a dramatic final-lap collision with Marc Marquez. Valentino Rossi started on pole and led for the majority of the race. Marquez closely shadowed Rossi throughout, eventually taking the lead on lap 20. Rossi retook it with three laps remaining. Marquez stayed within striking distance as they approached the final chicane (the Geert Timmer corner). Marquez launched a late dive on the inside of the final right-hander. The two riders collided mid-corner. The impact forced Rossi off the track and into the gravel trap. Rossi kept his bike upright, rode straight through the gravel, and rejoined the track just before the finish line to take the win. Marquez finished second, 1.242 seconds behind. MotoGP Race Director Mike Webb officially ruled the incident a racing incident. It was determined that Rossi was ahead at every stage of the corner and had the right to the racing line. Because the contact initiated by Marquez forced Rossi off the track, Rossi was not penalised for cutting the chicane. #motogp #valentinorossi #marcmarquez #fyp #explorepage
