We saved a baby sea turtle! We found him 0.1 miles from the beach headed in the wrong direction.
He crawled up the dunes, down into the parking lot, across A1A and down our street. He’s a fighter, for sure!

Just another day in Jupiter, Florida.
Two beautiful spotted eagle rays surrounded a juvenile sea turtle in the Intracoastal and gave her a little scare. She didn’t stick around to find out what they wanted and she quickly swam back to the safety of her juvenile turtle buddy.
Probably completely harmless curiosity from the rays… but the little turtle wasn’t taking any chances.
Wildlife encounters like this are why I never get tired of being on the water in Jupiter.

🐢WOW, what a morning! Here’s the (lengthy) story… I run on the beach every morning at sunrise during sea turtle season. Today, something in my heart told me to check under this beach access boardwalk. I couldn’t believe my eyes, and at the same time, my heart dropped. There was no way she could still be alive. But to my amazement, she looked at me and blinked! I started digging immediately! Then I remembered that I had to call the Sea Turtle Preservation Society, my local sea turtle conservation/rescue organization. Just as I finished leaving a message, a fisherman @caseygulick_caseycamp walked onto the beach and agreed to help me dig! (I love people with good hearts!). We dug out the sand in front of her and out from underneath her, dislodging her shell from the underside of the boardwalk. Finally, she was free and there was a clear path for her to make her way out. She crawled out into the fresh air and rested/napped for 30 minutes. By this time, a few sea turtle professionals arrived (this is why you should always call first - it can take them a bit of time to arrive, especially when you live in an unpopulated area like I do). They checked her over and were hopeful that after some rest, she would be okay to return to the ocean without medical intervention. Long story short, it takes a village. Thank you to everyone that showed up to help rescue this beautiful green turtle.
