Nature wrapped one of the richest sources of selenium on Earth inside a single nut.
We’ve become so obsessed with supplements that sometimes we forget nutrients have always existed in food first. And some foods are incredibly concentrated sources of them.
Just one of these can provide around a full day’s worth of selenium, along with healthy fats and other essential minerals.
This is the Brazil nut. Real food is powerful.

I know. I know. Sardines are not exactly giving luxury skincare. 😂
But they’re packed with omega-3s, protein, B12, and selenium all nutrients that support healthy skin, cellular renewal, and antioxidant defenses. Add extra-virgin olive oil, and you’re getting healthy fats, vitamin E, and polyphenols that support your skin from the inside out.
Now, if you absolutely cannot do the sardines, don’t worry. I have a simple routine that supports beauty-from-within plus extra stress relief benefits not just skin.
Because after 23years as a makeup artist, I’ve learned that what you put IN your body matters just as much as what you put ON your face.
And if I can support my skin without smelling like a fishing boat, I’m calling that a win.

Support your thyroid naturally—one healthy choice at a time. 💚
Your thyroid plays a vital role in regulating your metabolism, energy levels, mood, and hormones. While no single food can “cure” thyroid disorders, a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients like iodine, selenium, zinc, omega-3s, and antioxidants can help support healthy thyroid function.
🥜 Include nutrient-dense foods like pumpkin seeds, Brazil nuts (in moderation), fatty fish, blueberries, and probiotic-rich yogurt.
🍟 Try to limit ultra-processed foods, excess added sugars, and sugary drinks. If you have a thyroid condition, speak with your healthcare provider before making major dietary changes. Some foods, like soy or cruciferous vegetables, don’t necessarily need to be avoided—they can usually be enjoyed as part of a balanced diet, especially when cooked.
✨ Small daily habits can make a big difference in your overall wellness.

Your liver already has its own detox systems—but the foods you eat can provide nutrients that support normal liver function. 🍇🥦
🍇 Red grapes contain polyphenols such as resveratrol, but they don't activate detox genes in the same way as a 24-hour fast.
🌰 Brazil nuts are extremely rich in selenium. One nut can provide a large amount, so more isn't always better.
🫐 Blueberries are packed with antioxidants and plant compounds that can be part of a diet that supports overall liver and heart health.
🥦 Broccoli sprouts contain sulforaphane, a compound being studied for its effects on the body's natural defense pathways.
🍉 Watermelon provides hydration and antioxidants, but it hasn't been proven to directly boost glutathione in a way that “detoxes” the body.
🍏 Apples provide fiber, including pectin, which supports normal digestion and regular bowel movements—but they don't literally sweep toxins from your gut.
🍋 Lemons provide vitamin C and can be a refreshing way to drink more water, but they don't balance your body's overall pH or directly “clean” the liver.

THYROID CANDY 2.0 🦋

healthy adults are recommended to have 1-2 Brazil nuts a day for SELENIUM, needed for enzymes that help convert T4 into the more active T3 thyroid hormone (production).
The pumpkin seeds provide ZINC which supports how thyroid hormones act within your cells (regulation).
Each bite equals ↓
~1.2 Brazil nut, a good daily ratio for a healthy adult
~1 tbsp pumpkin seeds for skin, hair and overall hormone support (zinc, magnesium, iron)
~ 1/2 medjool date and some dark chocolate for a balanced sweet without the crash nor restriction
Other important nutrient mentions are iodine and iron (and overall healthy lifestyle 💛)
This is for thyroid support. If you have hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism and are taking medication, please consult your medical team.
🧬 1 week’s+ (10 days) worth supplement, daily dose 1 candy
12 Brazil nuts
3/4 cup (100g) pumpkin seeds
5 big medjool dates
tiny pinch of salt
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp almond butter (optional but provides better texture and magnesium)
~1 tbsp / a squeeze juice of an orange
~1 tsp zest of an orange
~50g dark chocolate + 1 tsp coconut oil
*since pumpkin seeds have non heme iron, vitamin C from the orange makes it more bio-available. For a different flavour profile add 1 tbsp cacao and 1-2 tbsp plant milk instead.
Lightly toast the pumpkin seeds for slightly better mineral absorption, allow to cool. Then blitz the seeds with Brazil nuts first, until flour-like. Add the remaining ingredients, and blend until the blades start to slow and a dough-like consistency begins to form. If it crumbles between fingers, add another squeeze of orange (or plant milk). Divide and shape into 10 balls, pressing tightly and put in the freezer for 5 mins while you melt the chocolate. Dip each and lay on a parchment lined plate. Put back in the freezer to set.
✨store in an airtight container, I prefer in the freezer for a firmer texture✨

My Morning Ritual: 2 Brazil Nuts for Thyroid
I take 2 Brazil nuts every morning, it really helps me with my thyroid. Remember, you should NOT take more than 2-3 per day.
Why Brazil Nuts Are So Good For Thyroid?
Brazil nuts are the richest food source of *Selenium* - and selenium is the most important mineral for your thyroid gland.
*1. Supports Thyroid Hormone Production:* Your thyroid needs selenium to convert T4 hormone into active T3 hormone.
*2. Reduces Inflammation:* Very helpful for Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (autoimmune thyroid), as selenium lowers thyroid antibodies.
*3. Powerful Antioxidant:* Protects the thyroid gland from oxidative damage.
*4. Rich in Magnesium & Zinc:* Both minerals also support thyroid function and energy levels.
*5. Good for Overall Health:* Helps with hair fall, mood, and immunity which many thyroid patients struggle with.
*Why Only 2-3 Nuts? - VERY IMPORTANT*
More is NOT better here. 1 Brazil nut can have 90-95 mcg of selenium. Your daily need is only about 55-70 mcg.
If you eat 5-6+ nuts daily, you can get *Selenium Toxicity* which causes:
- Hair loss, brittle nails
- Metallic taste, garlic breath
- Nausea, stomach upset
- Nerve issues
*2 nuts = perfect dose. 10 nuts = danger.*
*Who Should Be Careful:*
- If you already take a selenium supplement, don’t take Brazil nuts daily - talk to your doctor
- People with nut allergies should avoid completely
- If you have very high selenium levels, avoid
- If you have iodine deficiency, selenium alone won’t fix it - you need both
_This is for general information only. Since thyroid is a medical condition, please confirm with your doctor or endocrinologist before making it a daily habit.
