What a brilliant first taster session! 🎶 Young people got stuck into DJing, music production, dance, and drama, the energy in the room was amazing. Huge thanks to our fantastic facilitators, including the team from Roots & Future, with one of the facilitators also bringing their experience as a youth worker. One parent even messaged to say how much her daughter loved it !! exactly why we do this. Creating opportunities for young people to be creative, build confidence, and feel included. Saturdays are going to be special. Watch this space! 🔥 tnlcommunityfund Active Local Cowley Hill

This week Bobbie joined me in the hot seat for a chat about youth club and why it means so much to him. We talked about what he loves about coming to youth club every week, why youth clubs are important for young people, and even what he would do if he was a youth worker. One of his ideas was bringing young people and older generations together to help build relationships. Some great thoughts from Bobbie and a reminder of how much young people care about their communities. 💬

I've been thinking a lot about how youth spaces begin. Not the activities themselves but those first few minutes before anything fully settles. Young people arrive carrying the energy of their day. Staff move quickly into logistics… attendance, reminders, trying to settle the room. Without realizing it, the space begins procedurally instead of relationally. Over time, I've come to see that this moment is not small. It quietly shapes what becomes possible, whether young people stay on the surface or begin to step forward. I'll be sharing more about this shift throughout the week.

We’re growing, and so is our mission On February 26, 2026, we proudly celebrated the ribbon-cutting of Village Edu’s newest space. A milestone that reflects the growth of our programs, our community, and the mission that drives everything we do. This new space allows us to reach more learners, create more moments of wonder, and support our incredible educators and team who bring this mission to life every day. This celebration would not have been possible without the generosity of our community, and we’re so grateful for the support: Thank you to @giantfood for the gift card support, and to @wholefoods , @thefreshmarket , and @traderjoes for generously providing products that helped us host such a warm and welcoming event. A heartfelt thank you to singer/songwriter Evan Papier of Boy Throb for serenading our Village Edu critters during our grand opening celebration, and to Lior Gazit Rosenthal of Doll Apartments for accompanying Evan on guitar. Their music brought joy and excitement to everyone present, making our ribbon-cutting ceremony truly memorable. @evan_papier @boy.throb @dollapartments Huge shout-out to our Director of Community Relations, Wendy Papier, for helping us organise a successful event without any trouble, and to our team, educators, families, partners, and supporters: this expansion is a reflection of what we’re building together. We can’t wait to fill this space with learning, laughter, and discovery for years to come. #villageedu#learning#newspace#community

Sometimes the most important thing youth work offers is a place to belong. Great to spend time this week with colleagues from across the youth sector at the Youth Matters South East Roadshow in Basingstoke. Young people told us their biggest worries are friendships, education and future prospects, and health and wellbeing. The first one really stood out. Not services. Not programmes. Friendships. #YouthWork #YouthVoice #Belonging @berkshireyouth @yfs23_ @uk.youth @nationalyouthagency
