September 28, 2026 Nvidia just authorized an additional $150 BILLION for stock buybacks, bringing its remaining authorization to about $235 billion. But what does a stock buyback actually do? Fewer shares outstanding can mean each remaining share represents a slightly larger piece of the company, and earnings per share can rise even if total earnings don’t. But a bigger EPS doesn’t automatically mean a more valuable company.
