After Keira died, it felt impossible to imagine our family ever going anywhere again without her. But she kept sending signs and reminding us that we still needed to LIVE. She kept leading us back to Hawaii, even though I did not want to go. I finally looked up the cost of the trip. I immediately decided not to go. There was no way I was spending that much money to be miserable in Hawaii without my daughter. The very next day, we received an unexpected check in the mail for the EXACT amount of the trip. It was a refund from a mortgage company we had in 2012. She literally sent us the money šŸ’œ So we went. And yes, it was hard. But she continues to show us how much she is still right here… and that joy is still possible. šŸ’œ #signsfromspirit #signsfromheaven #griefandhealing #siblingloss #childloss
Today’s your birthday. Forever 41. The age I turn in a few months. The idea that this is all the life you had crushes me in ways I can hardly explain. It’s your birthday which means it’s been one year since we last spoke because only 21 days later you’d be gone forever. I’ve lost people before but the grief I’ve felt since you’ve been gone has made me question everything. It washes over me like the waves. I wish I could hear your laugh again or have you make fun of me for literally anything. I wish we had more pictures and time together as adults. Happy birthday brother. I hope you’re resting easy. I will miss you always. šŸ«¶šŸ» #griefandloss #griefandhealing #siblingloss #siblinggrief
Sudden, unexpected loss will do crazy things to your mind. One moment they’re here, and the next they’re gone. No goodbyes. No warning. Just gone. My youngest son said… ā€œI thought it was just a regular day.ā€ It was a just a regular day. Until it wasn’t. #rememberinggreg #siblingloss #grief #brokenhearted #mybrotherdied
Sometimes grief shows up when you least expect it. Losing a brother changes you forever. Send this to someone who understands what that kind of loss feels likeā¤ļø #Grief #GriefJourney #SiblingLoss #MissingYou #healingjourney
Let’s talk about sibling loss — it’s a woefully underrepresented faction of grievers. We don’t talk about it enough, but we’re talking about it this week. Everyone wants to know… Especially when they’re young. We feel like we need to know. But… does it actually matter? Accident. Overdose. Suicide. Cancer. Does it change the loss for the people who love them? It does not. I think we ask because it helps us feel safe… like if we understand how, we can somehow avoid death coming for the people we love. As a mom who has experienced the death of my daughter, I can tell you this… People ask me how she died far more than they ask me about how she lived. And that’s true for so many people who are grieving. People are afraid to talk about the person who died. So if you want to support someone who is grieving…don’t be afraid to ask about their person. Who they were. What they loved. Who they STILL are. And if you really need to know how they died… Google it. #childloss #griefsupport #deathanddying #siblingloss griefjourney
Did you see signs ahead of time? As sad as it is, there were many signs ahead of time including her wanting to memorize the cup song… ā€you’re going to miss me when I’m goneā€ And of course we miss her! I know this is actually quite common. If this has happened with someone you know share your story in the comments. We love you Keira! Thank you for continuously showing us all how connected we are šŸ’œ #signsfromspirit #signsfromheaven #griefjourney #siblingloss #childloss
