What will this teach you? 👇🏻 Aim: Manipulate the radius of the ski (aka bending it) to create tighter arcs on steep runs. This will help to better control your speed. Did you spot the difference? 👇 ❌ Top video - skidded turns ✅ Bottom video - carving turns Most skiers think they are carving, but they’re actually just skidding. This one simple drill, called Railroads, will help you find your edges, build clean arcs, and feel what real carving actually is. ⚠️ Warning: Once it clicks, you’ll be addicted! Carv can detect when you’re carving, and gives you a Carving Ski:IQ to track progress. It can also measure how much you’re skidding your turns, and give you advice to level up. #skilessons #skicoaching #skicoach #skiingtime #howtoski
Don’t let steeps shake your confidence 👇 @brennakelleher shares one tip to help you tackle steeper terrain. ✅ Match the gradient of the slope with your shoulders to keep pressure on your outside ski. It also helps to flatten the ski making it easier to start your turn. Stay tuned for part 2 tomorrow, where we’ll share some drills to practice this 🔥 #getcarv #skiingseason #skilessons #skicoach #skiingday
How to carve on steep runs? 👇 ❌ On steeps, intermediates tend to spend too long in the fall line, making it hard to control their speed. ✅ Experts bend their ski to create a tighter arc across the hill (smaller radius turns) to create more fiction. 🔥 Carv can measure this. If your turn radius is less than the radius written on your skis, you’re correctly bending them. Follow for part 2 tomorrow, where we’ll share some drills to help practice this. #skilessons #skicoach #skicoaching #howtoski #skitips #skiingseason
A wee exercise I like to do to hone ski technique, practise edging skills and eliminate A-frames and divergent skis. A good one to spend a bit of time training when you’re getting back into your skiing after a break. Cheers, George #ski #skitips #skischool #skiinstructor #learntoski
Thanks @bigpictureskiing for teaching this jibber how to short turn 💫 also big thank you @carv.ski for the support 💕skiing is a journey and no matter how good you are there is always new ways to improve 🫶🏼 #Ski #fyp #ski #carvski #skitolearn
❌ Are you actually carving your turns? If you want to link clean carved turns, you need to eliminate the pivot at the top of the turn and smoothly roll onto your edges instead. ✅ Find a nice wide open slope and allow your skis to track in clean C-shaped arcs all the way down the hill. 🔥 5 x Olympian @skigrahambell shares his top tips to take your turns from parallel to carved. Save this and give it a go on your next ski day! 🎿 Find the full video on our YouTube channel now! #skitips #skicoach #skicoaching #carving #howtoski
Most skiers carve part of the turn. Advanced skiers carve all of it. 🎿 The difference? Keeping your edges engaged from the very start. Try the Railroads drill - roll your ankles and knees side to side on flat terrain and feel what carving cleanly actually feels like before you take it onto steeper slopes. Small movement. Big difference. 📲 Find your perfect instructor at maisonsport.com
📐Feeling your edges is all about precision, not power 🏔️Start on a mellow, groomed slope to nail the feeling, then head to the steeps as your confidence grows 🏃Run through this sequence on your favorite slope and feel the difference Let me know in the comments if you’re going to try this!👉 @outofoptics @coberpoles @blizzard_tecnica #skiing #skitips #skitechnique #wintersport #skiinstructor
Did you spot the mistake? 👇 ❌ 76% of skiers are leaning their whole body into their turns. If you’re doing this, you’ll likely have: 1️⃣ Low edge angle scores with Carv 2️⃣ Low edge build scores with Carv ✅ To fix this, try the swords drill. This will help to balance on the outside ski, and improve edging through angulation. #skilessons #skilessons #skicoach #skiingseason #skiingtrip #skiingtime
