It is only Monday. 🤓 I started this mug project by designing the form digitally and printing a 3D shell that works as the master model. This printed base will now be used to create a plaster mold, allowing me to slip cast consistent ceramic mugs with precision and clean finishing. I think this probably counts as really late rather than really early, as I've been playing with these 3D printed systems since late last year, but at least I know I'm organised for this year's ornaments! 3D Druck trifft auf Keramik 🤝🤝 Eines der ersten Projekte waren die von euch geliebten Minivasen. Ich habe mich für 4 Formen entschieden, welche ich schon mal auf der Drehscheibe getöpfter hab und die ich besonders liebe. Diese wurden im 3D Programm händisch nachgezeichnet um anschließend Formen zu drucken, in welche Gips gegossen wird. Wenn man alle Plastik Teile entfernt, bleiben Gipsformen in welche man flüssigen Ton oder Porzellan gießen kann. Das vereinfacht und beschleunigt den Keramik Prozess immens und ich bin unglaublich dankbar diesen Schritt gewagt zu haben. one of my favorite ceramic forms is a moon jar! it’s a beautiful, round vase that originates from Korea that resembles a moon. I had a lot of fun mixing a digital approach with analog ceramics by first 3D designing my own moon jar on my computer. I wanted to get a lot of particular details down, like a very small base to make the “moon” look like it’s levitating, and a cute little lip. then I 3D printed and made a plaster mold so I can cast more ceramic moon jars! because the form is so timeless, they really take glaze so beautifully. I really love how elegant this form is and I’m doing some more experiments with moon jars atm, also along the lines of digital to analog. more to come :) 🐈‍⬛ 🌕

Made a cactus mold for my friend Tina! I tested it out too early though and the cactus stuck to the damp plaster mold. Hopefully she has better luck once it’s dried out! #ceramics #slipcasting #glaze #pottery #satisfying
