John’s 630HP N/A 406ci SBC HQ Kingswood “73Q” ☠️💪 Power comes from a 406ci Small Block Chev built around a Dart Little M block with a Scat rotating assembly, AFR 227/235 cylinder heads, solid roller camshaft, Edelbrock intake manifold and an APD 1050 carburettor, backed by MSD ignition. The combination was built and tuned by James at MCE, producing a stout 630hp. Supporting the engine is a serious fuel and cooling package, including a 75-litre fuel cell, Aeromotive fuel pump, hard fuel lines, PWR radiator, twin thermo fans and a Meziere electric water pump. Custom stepped Tri-Y headers flow into a stainless twin exhaust with 3.5-inch oval pipes built by CJS Performance Engineering, while Showtime handled the fabrication and fuel system. A full-manual Turbo 400 with a 5200 Dominator converter sends power through a GJ tailshaft into a Showtime sheet-metal 9-inch diff featuring 35-spline axles, a Motive TrueTrac centre and 4.11 gears. The chassis has been built to handle the power with AFCO coilovers, a United Speed Shop tubular front end, Retro Rack steering, Astra power steering, four-link rear suspension, chassis connectors, track locator, anti-roll bar and Wilwood brakes. Inside, the HQ keeps its classic roots with a black vinyl six-seat bench interior trimmed by Dave Higgins, complemented by a B&M shifter and AutoMeter gauges. Rolling on Weld Alumastars, with 17x4.5-inch fronts, 15x10-inch rear beadlocks and massive 325/50 Mickey Thompson radials. When I first got the 340 Dart I was shocked that it possibly sounded better than the Hemi. The big block is definitely louder than the 340 but the small block has such a great sound and loves high rpms.
