Attempting to onsight lead this 5.10c on a whim (with some encouragement from new friends) after almost 2 years without climbing. Grateful to Kyle for the soft catch on my biggest fall ever! The only true failure is not trying at all. I was cooked after this try, making it 2 feet from the anchors before falling. But I’ll be back for sure.
Shots Fired - V4 The Silencer - V4 Two fun lil climbs and a poorly timed foot slip Time to say bye to the good weather again :(
Proposed FA ‘No Diggity’ (6C) -Tafraoute Morocco Solid with a not solid landing
No future - onsight⚡️ Very soft but happy to take a send back home for my rare outdoor experience. Thanks @kwongies @fredrik_sends @thingsiclimbed for the hype 🔥 Hopefully I will climb outdoor next time can be sooner instead of another year 🗓️
Stoked to be getting back out to the Leap already this year! I’ve missed this place. Been a fairly dry and warm spring which isn’t necessarily ideal but at least the climbing areas are more or less ready to go now! #climbing #rockclimbing #loversleap #outdoors #tradclimbing
'Dolphin High Traverse' 7C/V9 Lovely day out with the boys! Very impromptu decision and I probably should have stayed and done the piles of uni work i have... Nonetheless I really missed being outdoors and couldnt pass on the lovely weather! Haven't been outdoors in so long and I forgot how much I love it! Super pleased with this send, those middle crimps are so much worse than you expect 😅 @adndarby @toby_wilmot @storrs.climbs @ben_rich4rds
Wrote this off as impossible every time I passed by, for YEARS. Sloping underclings, non-footholds. I’m certainly not any stronger than I was since I started telling myself it couldn’t be done, but it turns out imagination can carry you further than you ever expected. Keen to go back and apply thoughts prayers and spells for the last couple moves. See what we get.
Fun day in Castlegar. This one is called Rusty Blowtorch V6✅
Finally got back out to this wonderful place! Having been mostly sport climbing and lead climbing in the gym these past few months, trad climbing felt a bit weird! We were definitely a little rusty but stoked to keep getting out and ticking off routes out here this spring and summer! #tradisrad #tradclimbing #rockclimbing #climbing #loversleap
In my experience, everything on grit gets harder the shorter your arms are… But if you can put the desire for a quick tick aside, it can be way more rewarding. In a way, every new sequence I unlock feels like a first ascent. I’m the first person to trust that pebble, or get through a reach with a foot by my face, and that feels like a privilege. Getting to the top is great, but I genuinely think problem solving, executing creative beta, trying hard, and just being out in nature are the things I value most. Being short gives me access to all of that, all the time. Our experiences on the same climb might be completely different, but we can still share the love of those things, and that’s kinda special. Even though its easy climbing (around 6a+ for the whole pitch) these runouts always kinda sketch me out and I really want to be sure about the moves. Especially on slabs. In this clip I think the distances are kinda reasonable (I mean its obviously not plaisir) but some of the distances on the same pitch where even further: about ~7-8m. And that CAN become pretty painful when you fall.
Woodshed stand✅ Probably my favourite send outside so far. A powerful board style problem which felt fairly easy up to the last couple moves which I punted off like an idiot twice before getting it on my third go from the ground. I’d had 10 minutes on this thing at the end of a day just before new years and it felt really good even in my wrecked state so I’m super happy that I was able to come back and it feel so chill. I made a bit of a meal of the top of this thing, my left hand was pretty sweaty so it was really hard to sit into the friction of the sloper so my heel ended up popping off and i took a silly cut, but other than that, very happy with this send. I tried the sit to this boulder aswell which goes at 8A+ in comparison to the 7B+ stand. The first move is pretty fingery on the left hand so my tweak is sort of holding me back from really pulling on that move and sticking the edge. All of the moves on the bottom feel pretty solid and doable so I’m excited to get back to work on some links. Just a beautiful day out with a great bunch.
