Souq Waqif in Doha is more than 200 years old. It sells everything - from local spices, dates, perfumes to even falcons. 🇲🇦 Day 1 Itinerary📍Marrakech ✅ Our first full day in Marrakech started with a walking tour seeing the historic oldest part of the city, Medina. Koutoubia Mosque was stop number one and we learned all about the significance of the mosque, heard about the Islamic call to prayer “Adhan” (which happens 5 times per day), and more about the history of the area. ✅ Then we headed to the Souks, stopping at the rug maker first @palaissaadien, then walked around the endless corridors filled with the most beautiful sights, sounds, and smells… not to mention lots to buy 😏 ✅ After the Souks, we headed to see the Saadien Tombs where Sultan Ahmed Al Mansour and family are buried but it’s not just a normal burial site, it’s a stunningly designed UNESCO heritage site and must-see while in Marrakech 🙏🏻 ✅ Lunch break was at @lejardinmarrakech in their gorgeous courtyard, highly recommend for vibes and food (also stunning if you’re looking for a photogenic spot) ✅ The main square in Medina is Djemmaa El Fna and while calm during the day (if you consider dancing cobras to be calm 🐍😂), at night fills with food vendors and turns into a bustling area filled with locals and lots of tourists. The benefit to having a local guide like @saralamzouwaq was getting out of the tourist areas and heading to where the locals hang and shop. ✅ We ended the night with a food tour with Marrakech Food Tours and had bites from over ten vendors throughout the souks. Dried fruits, fresh pressed juices, Moroccan donuts and pastries, traditional soup called Harira, and so many other treats along the way.
