Battery change for the final setup. The Astral TX, when paired with Sound Devices XL-B14500, only needs one battery to achieve full functionality. This also means you can hotswap batteries, without breaking transmission or losing phantom power. Ive used the hotswap feature once, recording audio from a live mixing board. The shoot started very late and went long. I was able to visit the booth and hotswap the Astral TX batteries without breaking the feed. #SoundDevices #SoundDepartment #productionsound #AstralTX #boomoperator

Sound Devices | ISE 2026 – Barcelona Sound Devices is showcasing professional audio recording, mixing, and wireless solutions at ISE 2026, trusted across film, broadcast, and location sound. Since partnering with Sound Devices last year, we’ve seen strong uptake across the range, with growing interest in their expanding Astral ecosystem. A key highlight is the Astral PowerStation Cell, a scalable charging solution designed to centralise power management for Astral workflows, supporting flexible configurations as systems grow. Also on display is the Astral Guitar Box, previewed at ISE, delivering transparent signal quality and preserving tone for guitarists in wireless environments. Sound Devices is also demonstrating AstralComm, the network protocol enabling two-way communication between Astral Wireless systems and external platforms. Current integrations allow interaction with DiGiCo Quantum consoles, with deeper visibility and control features previewed for upcoming software releases. In addition, SoundBase integration is being previewed, enabling streamlined RF coordination, monitoring, and control within a brand-neutral workflow. Together, these developments highlight Sound Devices’ continued focus on workflow integration, reliability, and practical innovation for professional audio users.
