“Today’s vote makes clear that there is an unprecedented level of interest from the greater LA community in doing things differently, and we look forward to working closely with our city partners to make on-location filming as affordable, accessible, and straightforward as possible,” said Denise Gutches, FilmLA CEO. “We want to make the most of this momentum, and we hear every day from our industry partners how urgent the need is. We started working with the city last year on tackling several of the more immediate challenges included in these motions, such as a review of existing special conditions and a program for low-impact productions, and we will continue to provide our strategic implementation guidance for each of these proposals as they continue throughout the review process.”
Quick correction: some of the items I mentioned were introduced but have not yet been voted on by City Council. The motions that actually passed Wednesday are listed here.
