This is the kind of Italian road trip that deserves a spot at the very top of your bucket list. 🚗✨ From the clifftop views of Sorrento to colourful Positano, peaceful Praiano, the dramatic Furore fjord and the historic towns of Amalfi and Ravello, this route takes you through some of the most beautiful places on Italy’s Amalfi Coast. 📍 Sorrento — A great starting point with easy connections and stunning views across the Bay of Naples. 📍 Positano — Famous for its colourful cliffside houses, beaches and iconic Amalfi Coast views. 📍 Praiano — A quieter alternative to Positano, perfect for sunset views and a slower pace. 📍 Furore — Stop at Fiordo di Furore, one of the coast’s most dramatic and photogenic spots. 📍 Amalfi — Explore the historic centre and visit the famous Amalfi Cathedral. 📍 Ravello — Head uphill for beautiful gardens, villas and panoramic views over the coastline. 📍 Maiori — Known for its longer beach and relaxed seaside atmosphere. 📍 Vietri sul Mare — End the trip in the colourful town famous for its traditional ceramics. Travel tip: The Amalfi Coast drive is beautiful, but the roads can be narrow and busy, especially during peak season. Give yourself at least 4–7 days to enjoy these stops without rushing. Summer in Puglia🇮🇹 These friselle are one of our favorite summer lunches in southern Italy. There are so many different ways to top them but this simple tomato version is our favorite! What you need: Friselle, Cherry Tomatoes, Garlic, Basil, EVOO, Salt&Pepper Simple, fresh, & a taste of an Italian summer. Have you ever tried these? 🍅🌿
Save this for your trip to Tropea and follow Travelento for more 👇🏼 This is one of the most well rated restaurants in Tropea with almost 5k Google reviews and a 4.5 rating. It's also one of the recognised gluten free restaurants in town which meant we could both eat well and enjoy our first night in Tropea. We knew the food was going to be good, but we didnt expect it would become a party! Halfway through dinner the tambourines came out. The whole restaurant turned into a party. Staff, strangers, everyone on their feet dancing and playing. Touristy? Absolutely. But completely brilliant if you ask me. One of those unexpected moments that turns a good evening into a great memory. This is not the place for a quiet, intimate dinner. It is the place for a lively, joyful, very Calabrian evening right in the centre of Tropea and I would recommend it without hesitation. 📍 Thats Amore, Tropea, Calabria Save this and send it to whoever you are heading to Calabria with. THIS IS … 🏛️ ✨Follow for slow travel itineraries in Europe with a focus on Sicily and Belgium ✨ It might look like the Acropolis, but you’re actually looking at one of Sicily’s greatest treasures: the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento. 📜 A LITTLE HISTORY Despite its name, this isn’t a valley but a ridge overlooking the Mediterranean. The temples were built over 2,400 years ago when Agrigento (then called Akragas) was one of the wealthiest Greek cities in the Mediterranean. Today, it is one of the best-preserved collections of Ancient Greek temples anywhere in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. ✨ DON’T MISS • The Temple of Concordia, one of the best-preserved Greek temples in existence. • Walk the entire archaeological park, especially around golden hour when the honey-coloured stone glows. • Stay until sunset if you can. The changing light completely transforms the landscape. ℹ️ PRACTICAL INFO 🎟️ Tickets: around €17 for the archaeological park (combined ticket options are available for nearby sites). ⏰ Opening hours: Daily, generally from 8:30 AM until 8:00 PM, with extended evening opening during summer. 🥾 Allow at least 2–3 hours to explore. The site is much larger than most people expect. 🚗 Best reached by car, although buses also connect Agrigento station with the entrance. ☀️ Bring water, sunscreen and comfortable shoes—there is very little shade. The typical itinerary for Italy, is usually Rome, Venice or the Amalfi Coast. Even in Puglia, most itineraries focus on places like Polignano a Mare, Bari or Lecce. What many people don’t realise before visiting is just how big Puglia actually is. The Gargano Peninsula sits around 2 hours north of Bari, so it takes a bit more planning to include it in your itinerary. But if you have the time, I genuinely think it’s one of the most beautiful parts of the region 😍 The drive itself is part of the experience. You leave behind the olive groves and drive through Gargano National Park, following roads full of bends before finally arriving at the coast. And then suddenly you’re greeted by white cliffs, hidden caves and some of the bluest water I’ve ever seen. What I loved most is that Gargano feels completely different from the rest of Puglia. Here, it’s less about historic towns, although Vieste is still so lovely, and more about nature. Days are spent discovering beaches, swimming in crystal-clear water, taking boat trips to sea caves and simply slowing down. Seeing those huge white cliffs against the turquoise sea is something I’ll never forget 🩵 If you’re planning a road trip around Puglia, I’d really recommend driving a little further north and giving Gargano at least a day or two. For me, it wasn’t just one of the highlights of Puglia… it became one of my favourite places in Italy. — Hi, I’m Genalda 🙋🏾‍♀️ your travel bestie sharing travel guides and tips to help you explore the world on a budget while working full-time!
