RIDE ETERNAL, SHINY AND CHROME!! This is my third attempt at painting a classic sky/earth chrome marine like the iconic Heavy Metal art from yesteryear, and each time I feel like I understand it so much better than the previous time. It's such a great way to stretch your skills and really study light and how it interacts with shapes and angles. This time I included both a simple backdrop and a specular highlight, which I really felt was missing off of my previous attempts. I think it really adds to the effect and I'll definitely be including it in future chrome projects. I used one of the beautiful Whispers of Sand Instabases from @safeandsound_pl on this project and even worked in the little tactical rock that came attached to the model so that it matches the instabase. I think it worked pretty well! This is the second space marine that I've painted from the Armageddon box that was very generously provided by @gametronics. There are so many minis in that box! It's going to be a great summer filled with crazy projects!! Paints used: ProAcryl Brush used: @goldenmaple_official Size 0 Stay tuned! How dirty is too dirty for an Ultramarine? I painted this Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine using a much darker, more battle-worn approach than my usual style. Instead of trying to keep every surface perfectly clean, I used dirt, battle damage, texture and strong contrast to make the armour feel like it has actually been through a war. And that’s one of the things I like about this kind of grimdark painting: you can create a huge amount of visual information without needing every single brushstroke to be perfect. No meio da batalha em Demerium, Titus e os Ultramarines estão enfrentando as forças dos Thousand Sons. Quando a situação aperta, surge Valtus, um Redemptor Dreadnought. Mas ele não é simplesmente um robô. Um Dreadnought é, essencialmente, um Space Marine veterano colocado dentro de um enorme sarcófago mecânico. O corpo do guerreiro foi gravemente danificado, mas ele ainda pode continuar servindo ao Imperium através daquela máquina. Eu não diria que “no fundo somos soldados” literalmente. Mas existe algo humano que essas histórias conseguem ativar muito bem: perigo + competição + coragem + pertencimento + propósito. Quando vemos um personagem entrando em uma batalha junto dos seus companheiros, nosso cérebro pode interpretar aquilo como uma narrativa intensa de confronto, sobrevivência e superação. A testosterona também está relacionada a competição, status e comportamento social, mas isso não significa que assistir a uma guerra simplesmente aumente nossa testosterona ou que homens sejam biologicamente destinados à guerra. Talvez seja por isso que uma frase como “Lead me to the slaughter” bate tão forte: “Há perigo à frente, mas eu vou junto dos meus.” E Warhammer exagera isso ao máximo.
