#SpiritualReflections

“In the first two months since Oct 7, the b*mbs released the equivalent carbon emissions of over 20 countries.” Our founder @Amani was selected as the Muslim faith leader to deliver the spiritual reflections for @WiltonPark’s global multifaith convening on climate change. During the closed-door meeting in Italy, faith leaders from around the world addressed the most pressing issues facing our environment — and the best solutions to move forward. #climate #climatechange #climateaction #environment #indigenous #humanrights #muslimgirl

Credits: @missippivibes Mary Gordon is a featured storyteller and community figure in the 1975 documentary I Ain’t Lying: Folktales from Mississippi, directed by folklorist William (Bill) Ferris. The film, based on his fieldwork in African American communities in places like Leland and Rose Hill, Mississippi, captures oral traditions including folk tales, religious stories, jokes, toasts, and humorous narratives that blend the sacred and profane. Mary Gordon, a baptized member of Rose Hill Church (near Vicksburg), appears alongside other narrators like Shelby “Poppa Jazz” Brown, James “Son” Thomas, Amanda Gordon (likely a relative), and Reverend Isaac Thomas. She contributes personal and vivid accounts rooted in Black Delta life, including religious visions—such as one where she saw Jesus—and spiritual reflections that highlight faith’s role in everyday resilience. In discussions of the film (e.g., Ferris’s interviews), Gordon stands out for her sharp, witty style; she delivers pointed, humorous critiques, including a memorable “takedown” of a preacher, using satire akin to secular dozens-playing or trickster tales. This shows how storytelling served as both entertainment and subtle resistance or social commentary in rural Mississippi. A key early influence on Ferris himself, Gordon took him (as a child) to Rose Hill Church services, sparking his lifelong interest in Southern folklore. Her presence bridges sacred hymns, visionary testimony, and irreverent humor, embodying the film’s theme that truth-telling (“I ain’t lying”) crosses boundaries in African American oral culture.

As an artist, I have never shied away from expressing myself through music. Perhaps one of the reasons why my music can’t be put in a particular category or genre. The playlist of my songs would be a mixtape of personal experiences, social commentary and my spiritual reflections . Shiva & Shakti have entered my realm in the last few years when I found my guru. It has brought a sense of awareness, wholeness and alignment that I never knew existed. I am so happy to have composed some beautifully written verses by Tulsidas. This Mahashivratri, I invite you to join me in celebrating the essence of Lord Shiva as I offer this song as a heartfelt tribute and offering to my @sadhguru 🙏🏻❤️ ‘SHIV SHIV ‘ Releasing on 26.02.24 🗓️ @isha.foundation @songnestlabel #shivshiv #mahashivratri #ishafoundation #sadhguru #shiva #adiyogi #vasudasharma #songnestlabel #divine #kashi #benaras #spiritual #devotion #omnamahshivaye

Dear friends: Lent begins this week, on Ash Wednesday. If you're looking for spiritual reading for Lent, you might consider "Come Forth," a "deep dive" into the Raising of Lazarus, the Gospel reading for the Fifth Sunday of Lent. "Come Forth" looks at what is traditionally called "Jesus's greatest miracle," using a combination of biblical exegesis (considering the story part by part and sometimes line by line); spiritual reflections (asking what the story might say to us today), travel narrative (with visits to Lazarus's tomb in modern-day Bethany) and a cultural history of Lazarus (in literature, film, popular culture and the fine arts, with the book including reproductions of paintings, mosaics and sculptures depicting the Raising of Lazarus). At the end of each chapter are reflection questions to help groups or individuals meditate on each part of the story. I hope that you find "Come Forth" fruitful spiritual reading for Lent. It's available in print, e-book and audio. You can order the book here: https://www.harpercollins.com/products/come-forth-james-martin?variant=40440856936482 Or anywhere books are sold @harperonebooks

The transformative power of movement and trust in the journey was central to Rumi’s poetry. Spiritual Reflections: 1. Clarity follows movement — not the other way around. Start before you’re ready. 2. The path is hidden to the idle, but revealed to the seeker. Trust your first step. 3. Faith isn’t knowing — it’s walking without knowing. 4. Each step forward dissolves fear and invites grace. 5. You were never meant to see the whole road — only the next step. 🌟What step are you being called to take today? . . . . . . #sufism #sufipoetry #sufiquotes #nataschashah #wellness #healing #innerchildhealing #wellnessjourney #wellnesscoach #rumi #rumiquotes #journey #journeytosuccess

🏋️‍♂️🙏 "Finding Sanctuary in the Iron Paradise" 🧘‍♂️✨ Donovan, you've asked about my sanctuary, and it's a journey filled with various sacred spaces. I've been blessed with multiple sanctuaries, each serving a unique purpose and season of my life. Thank you for asking. Currently, my sanctuary may come as a bit of a surprise—it's the gym, but not just any gym. It's a bustling hub of determination and clanging weights, an Iron Paradise where people are pushing their limits and letting out victorious grunts. 🏋️‍♂️💪 In the past, my sanctuary looked quite different. Back when I lived in my old house, I had a dedicated space beneath the stairs—a closet of sorts, but it held more significance than mere storage. 🚪✨ This space, my very own "prayer closet," was a treasure trove of spiritual reflections. Inside, you'd find a collection of journals filled with my prayers, my thoughts, and my dreams. There was my trusty prayer list—a document of heartfelt petitions. The room was intentionally minimalist, free from the clutter of everyday life. 📔🙏 In there, you'd only find journals, my prayer list, a pillow, and a blanket. No shoes, no distractions—just pure, uninterrupted connection with the divine. 🚫👟 Your sanctuary can be a place of reflection, a place of action, or a place that beautifully blends the two. It's an anchor in the midst of life's tempests, a place where you find solace, strength, and the profound partnership with God. 🙌🤝 What's your sanctuary, dear friends? Feel free to share, and let's inspire one another on this sacred journey. 💬🙏❤️ #FaithInGod #EnrollingHeavensParticipation #HigherValues #TrustInGodsPlan #AchievingOurVision #ImagineFaithTalk #christianentrepreneur #blessedbusiness #wordfromgod #fyp #Jesusandbusiness #businessWithPurpose #God #Amen #Podcastclips #sabbath #restore #christianinspiration
