We heard you need more greens…
Ok, so we can’t provide the veggies, but we can provide the views. Picture this… green leafy trees framing cascading waterfalls, moss covered rocks, and floating lily pads. Just what the doctor ordered.
Embrace the green views across Tennessee State Parks when you stay overnight surrounded by stunning views just steps from your lodge room, cabin, or campsite.

Video description: A nature montage of greenery filled scenes opens on a summer mountain overlook with text that reads, “Doctor: You need more greens. Me: No problem.” The video moves through towering waterfalls surrounded by trees, mist drifting over tree-covered hills, a mountain stream, lush green forests, people rafting down a rushing river, and an inviting hiking trail.

The Grandfather Trail ✨
I can’t stop dreaming about it!
Info 👇🏻
The Grandfather Trail is one of the most iconic, and most challenging hikes in North Carolina! It’s famous for its exposed ridgelines, steel ladders, cables, and incredible panoramic views ✨
It’s considered to be one of North Carolina’s most dangerous hikes, so make sure to be careful when considering this hike! It’s not a beginner hike and proper clothing and shoes need to be worn.
Pictured in this video is the hike to Macrae Peak. This is the first peak you get to when doing this hike. I clocked in at a little over 3 miles when doing this section out and back.
Have you hiked it?
Add it to your bucket list if not! 🙌🏼
Always Leave NO Trace!
Keep our mountains beautiful!

I read somewhere that Acadia National Park before and after breakfast are two VERY different places—and that was not wrong. 😂
As much as we loved Acadia, the crowds are serious. August is peak season, but I still wasn’t fully prepared for just how crowded it could feel.
We mostly stick to state parks, so maybe this is simply part of the national park experience?
I read that we needed to reach Sand Beach by 8 a.m. if we wanted a parking space. But have you ever tried getting five teenagers up that early on vacation?
We arrived at 9:30 a.m., parked a mile away and navigated the crowds to reach the beach. Once we got there, we had fun—but the experience of getting there? Not so fun.
I was grateful we spent an entire week on Mount Desert Island because it took us a few days to figure out the crowd situation.
Here’s what worked for us:
🌅 Go early. I returned at 5 a.m. one morning, watched the sunrise from Otter Cliff and enjoyed a nearly empty Ocean Path and Sand Beach. So much more peaceful!
☀️ If you can’t go early, try the afternoon. As the early crowd begins leaving, parking spaces start opening up.
Later in the week, we visited Jordan Pond a little later in the morning and found parking right away. Then we returned to Sand Beach after noon and scored a space in the lot. I had never been so excited about finding parking spaces. 🤣
🌲 Explore the quiet side of the island. We stayed on that side and had a much easier time parking at Echo Lake Beach and nearby trailheads.
🚌The Island Explorer is a free shuttle that will take you to different spots in the park.
Acadia is beautiful—and once you learn how to navigate the crowds, it’s absolutely worth visiting. Just remember: Acadia before and after breakfast really are two very different places. 😂

We invest in our state parks because they belong to you. Whether you enjoy hiking trails, beaches, or just finding a quiet spot to relax. These spaces are for every Connecticut resident.
That’s why we keep investing to protect them, improve them, and make sure they’re here for generations to come.
I caught up with @ct.deep Commissioner Katie Dykes to talk about why the outdoors matters and what we’re doing to make Connecticut’s parks even better this summer.
Kauai ruined all other National or State Parks for me…
Happy #NationalLighthouseDay 💡🏠
