Sheds, porches, tents = not safe. Buildings or hard-topped cars = safe. 8. 30/30 rule saves lives. Thunder within 30 sec of lightning = take cover. Wait 30 min after last thunderclap. 9. When I reached the top of Mount Habritch sometimes in July, something super weird happened. My hands started making this buzzing noise as I moved them around. The sound would stop or start depending on how high I lifted my hands. I thought maybe it was my watch or my climbing gear, so I took them off, but nope, still buzzing. The weather didn’t seem too bad, but we decided to head down fast—something just felt off. 🌥️🥾 Turns out, that buzzing is a sign of static electricity in the air, which can happen before lightning strikes. Even if it doesn’t look like a storm, being up high on a mountain puts you closer to that kind of danger. If you ever hear buzzing or feel your hair standing up, it’s time to get off the summit ASAP. Lightning can be sneaky, and you don’t want to mess with it. While some think it’s common sense, it’s not common knowledge for everyone. ⚡I knew it was electrical but nothing more, but I was curious and recorded it to research later. After reading and learning about it, I understood it was a sign of potential lightning and a very close call for me.
