In the video, a massive, muscular silverback gorilla is seen performing a heavy deadlift in an outdoor forest-like setting. The gorilla has an incredibly built physique and is lifting a barbell loaded with several large, heavy plates. Two professional bodybuilders or strongmen are standing behind the gorilla, watching the lift with amazement. The gorilla lifts the weight with ease, showing incredible power and technique, then drops it back to the ground. The entire scene highlights a surreal display of animal strength combined with human weightlifting style.
Why Strongmen Have Big Bellies (It Makes Them Stronger) 💪
Most people think a big belly means you're out of shape... But in strength sports it can actually be an advantage.
Strongman competitors and powerlifters often carry what's called a "Power Gut."
That extra mass around the midsection creates a stronger base of support, helps increase intra-abdominal pressure, and can even help lifters rebound out of the bottom of a squat or bench press and creates more stabilization with overhead lifts.
In sports where maximum strength is the goal - not aesthetics - that "belly" can actually make them stronger.
It may not look pretty or win a bodybuilding contest... But it can definitely help win a strength competition.
And it's not necessarily right or wrong, good or bad. It's just different sports, different physiques, and different goals.
Note: this was a question taken from my LIVE Stream Q & A that I host every Friday at 5 pm Eastern Time on the Total Fitness Bodybuilding YouTube Channel.
Eddie Hall, the legendary “The Beast” and former World’s Strongest Man champion, lifted 100kg dumbbells in each hand with impressive ease, a remarkable feat even among the most accomplished strongmen. He also performed a shoulder press with the same 100 kg, demanding brute strength, body awareness, and absolute control.
Videos on his channel show the progression: from 50 kg to 70 kg, 80 kg, up to 100 kg per hand, with records of up to 110 kg in inclined lifts. Famous for his 500 kg deadlift in 2016, Hall won the World’s Strongest Man title in 2017. Although retired, he continues to push boundaries in training and public appearances.

The art of coaching elite lifters!!!
Check out the squat session with one of the best under 90kg strongmen in the world and also a strength system coach @coach_ollieclarke
We worked up to a top single of 260kg squat which was submaximal for Ollie, and i discussed how I think about the strategies for improving his strength in the long term.
This video is 6 and a half minutes, but it’ll you take your training seriously, there’s a lot of value in here.
For more great content, go and give Ollie a follow too 💪
Save this post for squat day and thank me later 👊

When you lose your father…
something shifts inside you.
Whether he was perfect or complicated…
he was still the only man who wanted you to be better than him.
Not equal.
Not smaller.
Better.
And when he’s gone…
there’s no one above you anymore.
No one to call for guidance.
No one to carry the weight.
No one quietly praying you win.
Now you’re the man.

Strongest strongmen in history 👇
Strongman competitions have produced some of the most powerful athletes ever recorded. Legends like Jon Pall Sigmarsson helped popularize the sport in the 1980s, winning multiple World’s Strongest Man titles and bringing international attention to strength competitions that tested everything from deadlifts to stone lifts.
In the modern era, athletes have continued pushing the limits of human strength. Competitors like Zydrunas Savickas, Brian Shaw, and Hafthor Bjornsson dominated the sport with incredible records in events like the log press, atlas stones, and heavy carries. Their performances showed how strength, endurance, and technique combine at the highest level.
Today, strongman athletes continue breaking records that once seemed impossible. Feats like Eddie Hall’s historic 500 kg deadlift proved just how far human strength can go. The strongest strongmen in history didn’t just lift heavy weights—they redefined the limits of what the human body can achieve.
