If you’re coming to London as an international student, PLEASE think about where you live. 🇬🇧🎓
Your accommodation isn’t just a place to sleep — it can shape your entire experience of London.
I know it’s tempting to choose areas where you already have a large community around you. It feels familiar, there are restaurants and shops you’re used to, and you might feel less homesick.
But if you’re moving to London for the experience, I’d personally recommend considering a neighbourhood where you’re surrounded by a more mixed, international population.
That way, you’re more likely to naturally meet people from different backgrounds, experience different lifestyles and actually feel like you’re living in a new country rather than recreating the environment you left behind.
📍 Areas I’d personally look at:
• Canary Wharf
• Canning Town
• Gallions Reach
And areas such as East Ham, Southall, Plaistow or Plumstead may feel more familiar for students from certain South Asian communities — which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. They’re perfectly valid places to live. My point is simply: don’t choose an area purely because it’s familiar.
You have the rest of your life to stay in your comfort zone.
If you’re coming to London to study, use those years to explore outside it. 🌍
Save this if you’re moving to London for university, and send it to someone who’s currently house-hunting!

🇬🇧 Think a UK Master’s always costs ₹30–40 lakh in tuition? Think again
.
Not every UK university comes with a huge tuition bill.
We’ve listed 10 UK universities with some of the lowest verified tuition fees for 2026/27, with fees starting around ₹15.29 lakh per year.
The list includes:
1️⃣ York St John University — ₹15.29L
2️⃣ Leeds Trinity University — ₹15.55L
3️⃣ Wrexham University — ₹16.20L
4️⃣ Birmingham Newman University — ₹17.50L
5️⃣ Edge Hill University — ₹19.44L
6️⃣ University of Chester — ₹20.09L
7️⃣ University of Bradford — ₹20.35L
8️⃣ University of Cumbria — ₹20.74L
9️⃣ University of Suffolk — ₹20.76L
🔟 University of Chichester — ₹21.00L
But here's the important part: the cheapest tuition fee does NOT automatically mean the cheapest overall study-abroad option.
Check your course fee, scholarship, city, accommodation, living expenses and career goals before making your decision.

Nobody tells you this when you land in the UK…
…and this can get you into SERIOUS trouble 🚨
If you’re an international student, stop scrolling ⬇️
You need to STOP doing these things 👇
1️⃣ “I don’t own a TV, so I’m safe.”
❌ WRONG.
Watching live sports, live news, or live TV on your phone, laptop, or tablet = TV Licence needed.
Watching ANYTHING on BBC iPlayer (yes, even catch-up) = TV Licence needed.
👀 Inspectors exist.
💸 Fine = up to £1,000.
✅ What’s safe?
Netflix / Prime / Disney+
(as long as it’s NOT live)
2️⃣ “It’s okay if I work a little extra.”
❌ NO.
20 hours is NOT a suggestion.
Even 1 minute extra = visa breach.
🚫 Home Office can cancel your visa.
Not worth the risk.
3️⃣ “Council tax? I’m a student.”
❌ Still dangerous.
Students are exempt but exemption is NOT automatic.
📄 You MUST apply to your council using a university certificate.
Ignore it = bills + stress.
4️⃣ “Side hustle only, no problem.”
❌ BIG problem.
Student visa = NO self-employment
No freelancing
No Deliveroo / Uber Eats
No Depop / Vinted business
🚫 Completely banned.
If any of this confused you 😕

📦 Moving to the UK soon?
Before you spend hours watching YouTube videos and asking people what to pack, save this post.
One of the most common questions I get is:
“What should I pack for the UK?”
“What can I buy after coming here?”
“What do students usually forget?”
After moving to the UK myself, I realized there were things I packed and never used... and things I wish someone had told me to bring from India.
So I’ve put together a complete UK Student Packing Checklist ✅
Inside you’ll find:
✔️ What you must bring from India
✔️ What you can easily buy in the UK
✔️ What not to waste luggage space on
✔️ Student essentials people often forget
✔️ Things I personally wish I had packed
I’ve made it into a simple PDF so you can pack stress-free and avoid common mistakes.
Comment **”CHECKLIST”** below and I’ll DM it to you 📩

Before you apply for your UK visa, double-check these so your file doesn’t get stuck 📝✅
Your application is being considered and is currently awaiting a decision.
It can take longer if:
• details in the form aren’t accurate
• extra evidence is needed (e.g. proof of funds)
• supporting documents have to be verified
• you’re called for an interview • more info is needed on your circumstances
• UKVI is dealing with high demand
• there’s a technical outage
Get the paperwork right first. All the best for the visa interview 🍀✈️

1. Too Many Winter Clothes 🧥
Buy them in the UK they’re designed for the local weather and often go on sale.
2. Heavy Kitchen Utensils 🍳
Pots, pans, pressure cookers, and plates add unnecessary weight. Buy them after you arrive.
3. Large Toiletry Bottles 🧴
Shampoo, body wash, and skincare are easily available at supermarkets like Tesco, Aldi, and Boots.
4. Extra Bedding & Blankets 🛏️
Bulky and space-consuming. You can get affordable bedding sets in the UK.
5. Excessive Dry Food 🍛
Carry a few essentials only. Indian grocery stores are available across most UK cities.
6. Electrical Appliances from India 🔌
Many won’t be compatible with UK voltage or plug types. Buy them locally if needed.
7. Too Many Shoes 👟
Carry versatile pairs instead of packing your entire collection.
Moving to the UK as an international student? 🇬🇧
Before you start filling your suitcases, here’s something that could save you baggage fees, stress, and a lot of space.
Many students overpack items they never use because they assume everything is expensive or difficult to find in the UK. The reality? #Most everyday essentials from winter jackets and toiletries to kitchen items and bedding are easily available at affordable prices.
Instead of carrying unnecessary weight, use your luggage space for important documents, prescription medicines, electronics, and a few sentimental items from home.
If you’re preparing for the September 2026 or January 2027 intake, smart packing can make your move smoother and cheaper.
