#MSDPartner I felt really overwhelmed when my mom got diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer, but learning more gave me clarity, confidence and comfort. And while my mom is doing well now, her journey five years ago taught me how powerful awareness and early action can be. I’m sharing what I’ve learned so that more of us can be informed, proactive and “breast aware.” Visit UncoverTNBC.com for more resources and information. #UncoveringTNBC #TNBC

Those pre-meds are something else! I love Thursday mornings (my day after chemo). I take my kids to our homeschool co-op and live it up until my inevitable post-steroid crash Thursday evening. It’s been well documented that, on Thursday nights, I will undoubtedly have my weekly cry about cancer. I appreciate knowing it’s coming as much as I appreciate knowing that it doesn’t last. For a lot of my life, I have preferred to stuff my feelings down, or ignore them or try to find a silver lining without acknowledging the darkness of the cloud. But I’m not doing that anymore. I’ve even thought, as a Christian, that anxious thoughts or grief somehow means I don’t trust God, but that’s not really true. Thoughts are going to come and grief is going to come. What matters is that I am willing to acknowledge them and take them to the Lord. Some of the most beautiful worship is choosing to go to God with those feelings and to ask Him to help us through. Even if sometimes those feelings come with questions or doubts. He is faithful to meet us exactly where we are and to give us exactly what we need, moment by moment. I see the value in processing each and every feeling. We can’t skip the grief that cancer causes, and we can’t pretend that every day is easy. But we can remember that it is temporary and that we are not meant to carry it alone. We can give our bodies- our hearts- what it needs to heal, and then we can start fresh another day. What have you found to be helpful on those days that feel overwhelming? #breastcancersupport #cancerunder40 #cancerishard #chemotherapy #tnbc

Courtney (@mycorduroyroad) took on the BCRF 31-Mile Walk/Run Challenge this May as a way to stay active during chemotherapy and support lifesaving research at the same time. Her community rallied behind her, helping her raise more than $6,000 for lifesaving research and crowning her the top fundraiser of the challenge. We are deeply grateful for Courtney’s unwavering advocacy and her incredible dedication to supporting BCRF’s mission.
❓❓QUESTION In patients with early-stage triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) treated with surgery +/- radiation but without any chemotherapy, is a higher abundance of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) in breast cancer tissue associated with better survival? ℹ️ℹ️ FINDINGS In this retrospective analysis of 1966 participants with early-stage TNBC treated with locoregional therapy but without adjuvant or neoadjuvant chemotherapy, survival rates were 90% for patients with a TIL level of 50% or greater, compared with 72% for patients with a TIL level of less than 30% at 5-year follow-up. (Remember no one had chemo!) 👉🏼👉🏼 MEANING In patients with early-stage TNBC treated with locoregional therapy only, higher TIL levels in breast cancer tissue were associated with improved survival. ⭐️⭐️ APPLICATION It is possible to obtain prognostic information from TILs… so especially in women who are looking to avoid or to de-escalate standard of care chemo regimens for stage 1 TNBC, TILs offer exciting insight into how risky it would be to decline standard of care. ⚠️⚠️ Checking TILs is not routinely done in United States pathology labs. However, it is simply a visual assessment by a trained pathologist on typical H&E stained slides, so there’s no fancy equipment or expensive stains needed. But I just wanna be clear, your medical oncologist will be hard pressed to tell you that you do not need systemic therapy, irrespective of your TIL count! #breastcancer #breastcancerawareness #breastcancersurvivor #breastcancerresearch #tnbc #triplenegativebreastcancer

Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is defined by the absence of estrogen, progesterone, and HER2 receptors, making it resistant to common hormonal and targeted therapies. This subtype is often linked to the BRCA1 mutation and is more prevalent in younger African-American women, typically presenting at later stages. The aggressive nature of #TNBC highlights the urgent need for increased awareness and regular screenings. Dr. Ashley Tsang emphasizes that early detection is crucial for improving outcomes. Staying informed and proactive is essential in the fight against this challenging cancer. #WeFindAWay #BreastHealth #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #WomensHealth #TripleNegativeBreastCancer
