The Washington Spirit announced Thursday that the 22-year-old soccer star has signed a new three-year contract with the club. This deal will reportedly pay her more than $2 million annually, including bonuses. ________________________________ According to @ESPN, the agreement makes Rodman the highest-paid player in National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) history! “It feels amazing. I’m very happy. I’m very blessed,” Rodman said following the signing. “I think it’s a monumental and game-changing moment right now. According to his GoFundMe, Thomas says his mission is deeply personal. He shared that he was forced to drop out of college as a sophomore due to financial constraints. This experience inspired him to create opportunities for young people facing similar barriers. _________________________ “I want to create opportunities for teens who are facing the same barriers I once did. That’s why I’m launching HMBL University and the HMBL Summer Camp, a trade-based program designed for high school graduates who may not have the resources or desire to attend college, but still deserve a real shot at success,” he wrote. _________________________ Thomas says the program will focus on equipping students with practical skills and real-world opportunities. Participants would have access to trade certifications such as CNA, plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, and medical technology. Beyond trade training, the program also plans to teach essential life skills, including financial literacy, budgeting, entrepreneurship, confidence-building, and hands-on skills such as sewing. _________________________ The proposed school also aims to broaden students’ perspectives by taking select participants on educational trips to Africa, exposing them to new cultures and opportunities beyond their everyday environments. Thomas is hoping to raise $200,000 to build the first campus. President #DonaldTrump is catching heat after claiming the Civil Rights Act resulted in white people being “very badly treated.” In an interview with @NewYorkTimes, Trump argued that qualified white people were denied college admission and job opportunities following the passage of the landmark 1964 legislation, which ended race-based segregation and discrimination. _____________________________ “White people were very badly treated, where they did extremely well, and they were not invited to go into a university or college,” Trump said. “So I would say in that way, I think it was unfair in certain cases.” While acknowledging the law achieved “some very wonderful things,” Trump added that it also “hurt a lot of people,” claiming that some who “deserve to go to a college or deserve to get a job” were unable to do so. Jesse Jackson at his funeral, telling the crowd she had warned about many of today’s political challenges. ___________________________ During her remarks, Harris reflected on the political climate and suggested she foresaw some of what the country is experiencing now. “I predicted a lot about what’s happening right now,” Harris said as the crowd applauded. “I’m not into saying ‘I told you so,’ but we did see it coming.” ___________________________ Although she didn’t mention President Donald Trump by name, her comments appeared to reference his presidency after he defeated her in the 2024 election.
