Interesting Fact: John Denver had almost never been to West Virginia when he wrote this. His co-writers actually started writing the lyrics while driving down Clopper Road in Maryland.
They originally thought about using āMassachusettsā or āMaryland,ā but the three syllables of āWest Virginiaā fit the rhythm of the melody perfectly.
John Denver heard the draft, helped finish the bridge, and realized that by using a specific place, they had accidentally created a song that allowed everyone to visualize their own hometown, no matter where they were on Earth.

Day 1 of the cruise and my sister said 'come get me!'
First-time cruiser expectations vs. reality is REAL.
Meanwhile... I'm still on vacation modeā
**Everybody ain't built for cruising and that's okay
This was my sister's FIRST cruise ever... and by Day 1 she was DONE.
She called the family talking about y'all can come get me!
Listen... vacations don't always go how we plan.
Some folks relax on Day ONE
Some folks need Day 1 to realize real quick... this aināt for me.
Still love her though
And yes... I enjoyed the rest of mine
