I am so grateful I smiled at this man three years ago on a 6 AM walk to the beach. After introducing ourselves to each other almost on cue, we joked that we both have alcohol names, but neither of us really drink. I have always had such a heart for our seniors. There is so much to learn from them if we take the time to connect and listen. Bud never got married. Doesn’t have any kids. But he has a great nephew that lives somewhere in the Midwest. His community aka family consists of his neighbors, the other people crazy enough to wake up at 5 AM and go for a walk every morning and all the people lucky enough to call him their friend. Anytime I can help him in someway I try to. He was telling me how he was over drinking protein shakes and so I told him I could make some super soft butter noodles (I use the tiny star pasta) and my meatballs, which sit in a crockpot for at least eight hours until they are melt in your mouth tender.
