Atul Sahu, a first-year CS student at Newton School of Technology, SVYASA University, Bangalore, built a real-time travel safety app in just 30 days as part of NST's CoNSTruct Hackathon, powered by The Product Folks & Emergent. Unlike typical SOS apps that rely on a panic button, Arovate takes a proactive approach. Just upload your travel itinerary, and the app monitors your location in real-time — alerting you the instant you step into a dangerous zone and simultaneously sharing your live location with local police. Developed on React Native, designed to be used by anyone regardless of age, and refined through AI-assisted development and hands-on debugging, Arovate is the kind of solution CoNSTruct was designed to inspire. Behind the build was a strong support system — with mentors like Gireesh Subramaniam (VP of Product & Engineering, Zeta) and Suhas Motwani (Co-founder, The Product Folks) guiding Atul through the build. From scratch - ML PROJECT 🚀 I’m building a machine learning project based on computer vision and Python to create an AI surveillance system that can perform suspicious activity detection using a normal camera like a CCTV system.
