Another mini monotype from my Oaxaca series. I’m really enjoying printing with old milk cartons ♻️! The Tetra Pak material is really interesting and I’m starting to get familiar with its quirks, if you’ve been thinking about trying it I highly recommend it! This one is a drypoint with monotype using Akua water soluable inks, still holding up well after three prints. You asked, we delivered. 🥛🧵 Here’s the full tutorial for the @oatside drink carton bifold wallet! You can also use any Tetra Pak drink carton for this tutorial. OATSIDE drink cartons are a type of Tetra Pak - a multilayer packaging made up of approximately 70% paperboard, 25% plastic and 5% aluminium fused together. This multilayer construction is what keeps your oat milk fresh, but it also means the carton requires specialised facilities to be fully recycled. While Tetra Pak runs community collection drives in Singapore(or used to!), the nearest full recycling facility is actually in Malaysia, meaning most cartons here don’t end up being fully recycled. And even if you wanted to recycle it, here’s what it actually takes: 1. Wash and clean the carton thoroughly 2. Deposit it in the correct recycling bin 3. The recycling facility sorts through the bin and if it’s not contaminated, the carton gets collected and shipped to recycling facility in Malaysia 4. It gets recycled into paper and polyAl And that’s assuming your public waste collector even sends it to the facility. Not all of them do. So how many cartons actually make it through all of that? But that same multilayer construction? It makes them an incredible material to upcycle because it’s structured, durable and surprisingly workable. Obviamente, lleva mucho más de un minuto y es un proceso sencillo y encantador que utiliza materiales reciclados e incluso permite imprimir en una máquina de pasta en lugar de en una prensa de grabado. A ella le encanta lo inmediato que es: tener una idea, rebuscar en el contenedor de reciclaje y empezar a crear. She loves how immediate its is - have an idea - raid the recycling bin and start making!
