Texas football fans escaped the heat by sitting on the staircase at Darrell K. Royal Stadium in Austin on Saturday, September 5, footage shows. Jada May recorded this video as the Texas Longhorns destroyed Texas State in their home opener. “Texas heat has people sitting on the steps instead of enjoying the game,” she said. “This video doesn’t even describe how many people were on the steps… you couldn’t even walk up them. This heat is no joke.” According to news reports, four fans were stretchered out of the venue due to the heat. The National Weather Service said temperatures would stay above normal for the weekend and into next week.

Texas State is one of the fastest growing universities in the state of Texas, adding about 6,000 students over the last five years. The school has about 47,000 students, but more could be signing up after an old program that offers students free tuition is expanding. Texas State is expanding it’s Bobcat Promise program, extending free tuition beginning with the incoming Fall 2027 first-year student class. First-time freshman students in Fall 2027 who graduate in the top 25% of their high school class and have a family adjusted gross income of $100,000 or less will qualify for free tuition and mandatory fees. #TexasState #Texas #School #education
