Am I bugging? I had been meaning to grab a drink here for a while and felt it fit perfectly in with this series. There seems to be a strange overlap between the places I really love happening to fall into this category. Maybe I don't belong in New York, maybe I don't understand women? You guys tell me but before you do go grab a drink at Cherry Tavern and let me know where else we should check out that falls into this series. These are my favorite bars to find. And if you don't have anyone to go with we just started adding more users to @onthegrid.app where you can save places like this and meet other people who want to check it out too. Comment below and I'll send you the link. #barrecs #loneliness #nycbars #bars #endloneliness

The Matinee _____________________________________ Akron, Ohio USA @barwaveapp 4.3/5 ⭐️ Reviewed as a killer dive bar with a unique atmosphere, decorations during the holidays, fun chaos at night, and bartenders you will remember. Tucked into the heart of Highland Square, The Matinee is the kind of bar you don’t really plan to end up at, but somehow always do. It sits across the street from Mr. Zub’s, which means late night sandwich runs are basically part of the experience, and the whole area carries that artsy, slightly offbeat Akron energy that makes it feel like its own little pocket of the city. Inside, it leans dive in the best way. Dim lighting, music that actually matters, and a crowd that feels like a mix of regulars, creatives, and people just looking for a solid night out. The drinks are affordable, the beer list is deeper than you expect, and there’s just enough chaos to keep things interesting without feeling overproduced. The bartenders are a big part of what keeps people coming back. When they’re on, they’re really on. Quick with a drink, easy to talk to, and the kind of personalities that turn a random stop into a full night. A lot of people mention specific bartenders by name, which tells you everything you need to know about the kind of place this is. If you want a real Akron night with good music, strong drinks, and a bar that actually feels lived in, this is where you go. @thematineebar Suggested by a follower!
