#ThePool

Our bags are packed, and we’re gearing up to install The Pool at LUMENAURA in Aurora, Illinois! Here’s a throwback to the installation process from the Hong Kong Arts Festival in 2017, giving you a glimpse of what goes into bringing this interactive light art to life. ✨ We can’t wait for you to experience it starting October 4th! The Pool is the first of my HAWT, Have Art Will Travel collection, and has been traveling 15 years. The Pool allowed me to watch people from all across the world play, and over these 15 years I have come to really understand the parallels between play across the world, and how fundamentally similar it is. #ThePool #LUMENAURA #JenLewinStudio #InteractiveArt #Pool #LEDart #circularart #interactive #Lightart #playacrosstheworld #play #community #love #15years #HAWT #tidalpools #natureinspired

30k!! Revisiting The Pool because it all started with uncovering this under-appreciated genius. I made a playlist with every track I’ve shared since then — and I’ll keep updating it with each new post ~ 🔗 in bio ✨ ‘Dance It Down’ dropped in 1982 on The Pool EP, released through his own Moment Productions label. The track was regularly slotted in DJ playlists on the east coast with Africa Bambaataa playing it at the Danceteria night club — this most likely being the circle where Neil Tennant of The Pet Shop boys would’ve heard the tune before recording the original version of West End Girls (1984). The Pool EP also featured ‘Jamaica Resting,’ the track whose hypnotic rhythm decades later became the foundation for LCD Soundsystem’s ‘Dance Yrself Clean’…also uncredited. 🫡 to an Austin, Texas legend, Patrick Keel aka The Pool.
