‘Till next time Grandma Pearls! Fun fact: I moved to England when I was 19 (16 years ago!) to work and travel with my British boyfriend. We got married a year later (YES I WAS BASICALLY A CHILD) and then we moved back to Canada a year later to start our lives together. I miss England. Most of Greg’s whole family live across an ocean still and it’s really hard being away from them. We are so lucky that his mom is able to make it over a few times a year and that she’d got so much energy to be an active Grandma. She gets the name “Grandma Pearls” because she always wears Pearls and my daughter gave her the name to differentiate her from other Grandma. Her name isn’t Pearl. She is so good at loving on our family. As a mom without much family of our own to rely on here in Canada our visits with her a treasure. It is so nice to be mothered once in a while. No ones family situation is perfect, mine included. But I would say going without just makes me all the more appreciative of what we DO have when we have it. Everyone understands what it’s like not to have a large healthy involved family until they’re too busy because that’s who they’re with. I’m not mad. I don’t hold it against them. Everyone’s family situation is different and none of them are as healthy and happy as they might seem.
