#ThroughTheFire

Released 40 years ago (!) this month in 1985: "Through the Fire", the third single from I FEEL FOR YOU. It would peak at #15 on the Billboard R&B Singles Chart, #16 on the Adult Contemporary Chart, and at #60 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track would belie its chart placings, becoming a standard. #chakakahn #throughthefire

Kanye West’s “Through the Wire” was produced by Kanye West and built around a sped-up sample of Chaka Khan’s “Through the Fire.” The soulful sample and simple drums create a raw, emotional foundation for his story. Recorded while his jaw was wired shut after a car accident, its authenticity and unique sound helped launch his career. Follow @howthatsongwasmade for more!

The music video for the immortal track “Through the Fire” has been newly remastered in HD and is now live on Chaka’s YouTube channel. Did you know producer David Foster wrote the song specifically for Chaka and was so confident she would sing it, the working title was actually “Chaka”? #chakakhan #chaka50 #throughthefire
