Spend the day with us in Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen! Tivoli is the second-oldest amusement park in the world, and it was every bit as magical as we hoped it would be… We each had a ride pass on this day so first of all we headed to the classic wooden rollercoaster. Despite being here since 1914, I actually think this ride had the best wheelchair access system out of all them we tried that day - we could take an elevator to the platform and leave the powerchair only a few steps away from where we boarded the ride. We didn’t spot any attractions where you could stay in your wheelchair (though of course we may have missed something) which was disappointing to see, but as an ambulatory wheelchair user I managed to enjoy plenty of other rides on this day too. It was often a bit confusing to work out where to go and even at the accessible entrances there was much more standing and walking involved than I expected, so there was a *lot* of extra fatigue and pain to contend with, but for me it was just about doable and it did feel worth it. We grabbed lunch at the huge Food Hall where the vendors handled my allergies really well when I showed them the allergen cards I’d made, we visited the aquarium, and winning a game of Off To The Races on our way out was the icing on the cake. Going at Christmas-time meant we also got to experience the gorgeous illuminations and wander around the Christmas markets, and oh my goodness, I don’t think I’ll ever stop talking about the scent of the air full of cinnamon and fresh, hot mulled wine. Divine beyond words.
