After the murder of George Floyd, my office partnered with International Yoga Instructor Jazmin Porter to launch the PEACE (Police Enlightenment and Collective Education) Program. Through yoga, meditation, sound therapy, and journaling, the program helps officers manage stress, improve de-escalation skills, and support their overall mental wellness.
After its success with officers, we expanded the program to the incredible team at the Houston Emergency Center—our 911 call takers, dispatchers, and emergency support staff who handle hundreds of high-pressure calls every day.
The PEACE Program provides tools to help them stay calm, resilient, and supported while serving our community. We are grateful for their dedication to keeping Houstonians safe.
To show our appreciation, we treated the team to Outback Steakhouse! Thank you to Directors Mason and Jackson for your support. My council office is proud to fund this program and continue investing in the well-being of those who serve our city.
